I originally planned marble counters on shaker style white cabinets for my bath. I am now planning hand made glass vessel sinks and resin counters (3form chroma in 1/2") in water colors. The shower is glass tile also water colors. Do I need to choose a more modern cabinet? A dark/black color not white?

Not necessarily. A white shaker can be made more modern by mixing it with other materials like this.... What is the floor color? That would affect my choice on cabinetry more than the other elements. Also, if you want a white cabinet, you could opt for a flat panel door instead of shaker as a more modern option.
