bump....

So sorry, didn't see this post. I have been spending day and night trying to clean and put things away. My kitchen is finally done! But, to answer your question..my cabinets were made from old barn wood, quarter sawn oak. They cut old beams to get the wood. I was going to stain them but fell in love with the natural color, so I just put a sealer on them.
My counters are stainless steel and concrete. I am trying to post my pictures soon. I'd be happy to answer more questions if you have them!

Thanks for getting back to me. Can't wait to see your pics. I love the naturalness of the unstained wood. It's light, yet has the nice darker contrasts in spots. I was wondering if you had stained it at all. Are you happy with the stainless counters? I'm thinking of those as well. Your kitchen sounds like the look I'm going for. An industrial, eclectic, traditional kitchen. Not sure if that makes sense to anyone but me!!!! Thanks again.

Just saw the finished pics posting. Looks fabulous!!! How funny, I'm also considering the Liebherr. Looks like you got the built in. Are you happy with it. How many are in your family? Is it enough space? Mostly worried about the freezer part being big enough for all our ice cream!!!

I did put a sealer on it. It is called Bona Natural their web-site is www.bona.com. Someone over in woodworking suggested it. The seeler hardly changed the color of the wood but also made the wood grain "pop".
We love the Liebherr. It fits a lot of stuff even though it is on the smaller side. We are a family of three, usually, but also have two other family members living with us and we have plenty of room. The freezer area is small (we have 2 ice creams, three boxes of fruit bars and 3 sorbets though) but so much more usable then my old 36" frige that stuff was just jammed into. You can also take the drawers out and just have shelves (they are glass). Hope that helps!
