Where's the pool builder? (vent)

Okay, it's 10:45 and my first appointment hasn't shown or called. We scheduled for 10am.

I've got to make a Costco run between the first one and the appointment at 2pm with builder #2.

Of the three initial builders I contacted, this is the one that gave me the least "warm & fuzzy" feeling, so he's just going down the tubes fast!

UGH!

Certainly not a good indication of what you can expect from him during the build process!! Hopefully the next 2 appointments will go better!

Sounds like the first pb is helping to narrow your choices... ;)

Update: Called #1 and he had made the appt for Tuesday in his book. Could've been a mistake by either of us, fine. Since I had another appt today at the same time, he said he'd just stop by and survey the area alone.

#2 showed up with measuring tape, took notes on my ideas, and sent me a drawing today. No pressure, very informative, very nice. No estimates yet. Drawing looks great and takes me to 75% want a pool. DH is at 50% want a pool, but might have gone up after seeing drawing.

#1 ended up stopping by shortly after PB#2 left, so I was armed and ready. He walked around and gave me a folder, all pools $24K plus so much for this and so much for that, about $36K for our pool. Felt like I was at a used car lot though. Bragging about how great his company is. How they build pools in 6 weeks (everyone else is 3 months).

#3 today, best around, very experienced with the seawall issues. Glad that he pointed out difficulties that we have to tackle: rain gutter with no obvious solution, where to put solar and pool equipment, because the initial solution is on opposite sides of the house which is difficult. A bit full of himself, but he does great pools and decks.

LOL! Well that's a better average than where we were, I was at 10% and my wife was at 100% :-) The whole thing is such a stressful process, but at least you're already here which shows you're doing your homework. I didn't really start digging into the forums until about a week before we signed, but luckily we had a great PB. Good luck!

Well, when we look at the finances we might both end up back in the 25% range! "That's why we are friends with all the neighbors with pools!"
