It's just never a simple project, is it?

Sorry - little vent here... (sigh)

Wanted a new oven, thought it would be simple enough...back in December.

We decided to utilize an empty wall in our kitchen so that we could get a bigger double oven. We started off with some pictures from the internet of interesting cabinetry.

5 quotes later and we finally decide on one very cool cabinet arrangement and we order the cabinets.

We order the oven.

We are excited... until we look up and decide that our canned lights will need to be moved, otherwise they'll be right over the new cabinets.

Call in an electrician, but first move the computer away from the wall and plug the internet in to another connection.

Uh-oh... the only jack with DSL in our home is right where the oven is going to go.

Call in Verizon. Stay home all day waiting for tech to arrive. Miss work.

Electrician pulls down old canned lights and starts to cut for new lights.

Electrician discovers our heating duct is torn.

Cut big hole in ceiling to assess problem. Call in heating guy. Heating guy gives $$$$$ quote.

We have a friend recommend another heating guy. MUCH better rates. Hopefully this weekend he can repair the heating duct.

Also, wall needs to be rewired for 220 for the new oven.

Need to call drywall guy, get electrician back and hire a painter to cover it all up.

UGH! Cabinets are in, but can't be installed until all of this other work is done. Oh... and my old, obsolete ugly, 24" oven finally died, so I have no oven for a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, my beautiful Elux Icon double oven is sitting in my living room. (at least I can gaze at it and dream of exciting days when i can actually use it!)

I'm crossing my fingers that nothing else rears its ugly head.

okay.... I'm done... thanks for listening.
