I've added a few more options if I wanted to keep more with a farmhouse theme - we do live on a farm, but not in a "farmhouse" - it's a ranch style.

The foyer light is sure good-looking. It's hard to select the ceiling light without seeing the room it will be in, but I like the style of option 4 for a kitchen.

I think option 1 relates best to the foyer light.

I really like option 3, but don't think it goes particularly well with the foyer light. Another thing to consider is that fabric shades may be harder to keep clean in a kitchen/dining setting. Maybe I'm paranoid or the only one with messy enough kids to think like that, but thinking of spaghetti sauce flicking through the air kept me from ordering a fixture like #3 for my dining room.

I like the foyer light and think either option 1 or 4 would look good, but like 4 the best. I was also thinking that shades might get dirty in the kitchen area over time.

I responded to the thread on the kitchen forum but now that I know you are going more "farmhouse", I think I wouldn't pick option 2 as I did before. I might pick #5.

We are in a rancher that we are remodeling too! I am hoping for a more modern farmhouse style, with a bit of a quirky bent too. We have a more casual lifestyle and am loving the rancher idea!
