I'm attaching a link to Vwhippiechick's kitchen in the Finished Kitchens Blog. She has a quilted SS backsplash that she bought on eBay--the details are in the link.

Thanks alwaysfixin...that is exactly what I needed to see--I love it! Is Ebay my only option, or is there someplace locally I could look up? Stainless Steel fabricators? I wasn't getting anywhere with that...

I went to a local commercial kitchen equipment store & asked for a recommendation of metal fabricators; restaurants need this kind of work all the time. They were more than happy to give me a name - & because I was referred, the shop did the work immediately (it was a very small job) & the owner could not have been nicer. They had samples of the different types of SS on display, including quilted, & I had the distinct impression that a lot of their work was residential. BTW, the workmanship was flawless.

antiquesilver, thanks for the recommendation. Do you have any idea of what you paid for it? Or how it was priced, at least? I'm trying to compare the cost of SS vs. basic tile.

Pricing is probably a lot different from 2 years ago when I bought mine. I bought a single piece (about 36"x24"), 304 brushed, 18gauge w/smoothed edges, but it had 2 bends which probably contributed to the price of $100. I don't have a clue as to the $ difference in quilted & plain but please keep us posted as to what you find out.

this one is not stainless. it is a metals tile by sonoma. i thought i would link it so that you could take a look at it. it may not be even close to what you are wanting, but it is a quilted look and it comes in metal colors.

This is another option: rolled sheets of textured stainless from an architectural supply place. This will at least give you one cost idea.

Go back and forward a few pages in the online catalog for more styles & metals.

Oh, and I forgot, they also have this type of stainless backsplash (great patterns!):
