front door decoration

I'm trying to find a place that sell decoration for the outside front door. I see some doors decorated with the flat basket holding beautiful flowers and other neat items. Is there a place you can purchase this kind of decoration?

I've been on the web for a while now and have not found anything. Where are they getting this decoration?

Are you looking for something like this?

I like the look of the door baskets. I found mine at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago. I like to use wreaths, too. I have one for Christmas, Fall, Easter and Fourth of July. I'm anxious to see what other ideas people have for decorating a door. Hope people post with pics.

Last Spring on another decorating site, one gal used a type of hanging vase on her front door. She kept it filled with cuttings and flowers out of her yard and it looked wonderful. I imagine that it would be a fun thing to have, as it would change so often.

Pier 1 and Joann's Fabrics and Crafts has flat sided baskets in their stores. Haven't checked online. I'll bet Michaels or almost any craft store has flat door baskets. Of course you'll have to put your own decorations in it.

Here are some live links for you. EBay has a whole section called "Door Accessories." Or you can also try searching on key words like wreath , swag, or door basket , or snoop through their "floral decor" area. They have tons of pretty stuff.

Msbee, not crazy about the tulips, but the snowflakes are great! Could also see doing the family last initial for the front door. Thanks for sharing!

Msbee, those are really cute. They make me smile. Thanks for posting that.

    Thank you, Msbee.

Below is one of the snowflakes from the YikYak site. Does anyone know what the grey metal thingy is over the door? Does it have a purpose or is it just decorative?

I've never seen anything like this and I was hoping someone here would know.

I was at the Inn at Biltmore Thursday and they had the most gorgeous wall baskets outside the main doors. Where would you find really beautiful ones like that?
They weren't Nantuckety at all, more English country and the wicker was beautiful.

mclarke-that grey is the roof flashing. We just had a roof built over our front door with pillars and had to decide if we wanted the flashing to match the brick, or the rest of the siding. I went with beige. I didn't pick the zig zag look though, I went with straight. I can post a pic if you need to see one.

I should be ashamed to respond to this thread.. as it was only two weeks ago that I took down the "The witch is in" halloween door plaque my sister put on my backdoor. (I am not normally THAT bad.. it was a particularly crazy fall/winter in my world)

My mom had a beautiful english country kind of wall basket .. unfortunately she picked hers up in a consignment store. However, I would check them out because door decorations are definitely one of those things that we tire of long before they wear out.

I would really like one of the "living wreaths" for my door-- but based on the last experience, I am picturing a bunch of dead moss and flowers in december.

Oh, I love the Yik Yaks! Especially the snowflakes!

I love the Yik Yak's tulip. One of the pictures shows it in what to me looks lime green, but they call it yellow. What do you think green or yellow? Can I get in touch with them? I could not find a phone number.

I have one of those pocket thingies that is metal, fits flat to the door with a handle (pocketbook plant holder?) and I change it out by the seasons. It was white when I purchased it but I gave it a glaze to make it brownish so that it looks more like my door. I have a glass that sits down inside it and I can use fresh flowers when I think about it, or silks by season, unless I find something else I like :) Sometimes being a garden club member has its con's. I tend to see things people make and like to make them myself. I lack the imagination Les has, so when I go to garden club and see someone else's, I can draw on their designs and use different florals, etc.

Have you tried www.petals.com or www.silkflowers.com

I have bought "stuff" from both and have been very pleased.

Great thread! I did this on my double front doors. It's a sort of vase made of metal. I put the red berries in for winter. I've added some springy flowers now but I'd really like to find a basket also for the spring/summer. Baskets just look summery to me. I've been looking also and they're not that easy to find.

Love the Yik Yak's site, especially that snowflake! how cool :-)
