Hi Laurajane, I have just begun to plan my kitchen remodel and am no expert but will try to give you a few ideas that may be helpful.
Make sure your cooktop is not too far from your sink. If you have to drain hot water you don't want to walk too far.
Your oven could be placed in a tall wall cabinet to the left of your cooktop. Put a built in microwave above the oven. You'll still have some drawer/cabinet space above and below the ovens.
Your island is in a great place to place hot food from the oven and unload/load your fridge. Have fun with your new home!

Thanks for the ideas! Unfortunately, I don't think I have room for an oven beside the cooktop (no tall cabs there). It could go under the cooktop, but it would be low to the ground.

I was hoping that I could fit an oven next to the fridge, but under the counter to avoid both a dark corner and door collisions with the fridge. Thoughts? Would I need to move the DW over?

It occurred to me that my fridge and pantry are at opposite sides of the kitchen. Does anyone think that this would be a big mistake? I have this configuration so that the fridge can be recessed and so that it is less visible from the main living areas. I go to the fridge fairly often when I cook but I need the pantry less often.
