Evergrain/Epoch is one of the soft composites, same kinda thing 20 per cent color fade,scrates up pretty easy, the joists need 12'' on center for a good job. I have a few projects out using the stuff ones on my site. I can recomend TimberTech T&G material. John

(on the web site of someone who has posted on this site before) talks about Polyethelene vs Polypropolene vs Plastic type composites. I used Correct Deck on my deck last year. I've noticed recently I have black mold spots. Composite wood tends to mold according to many who have used Trex, Correct, and others. Can't speak about Evergrain specifically. Correct Deck has a new Anti-fungal product Correct Deck CX

So, the pluses- you don't have to stain periodically, just clean. It will last longer.

Negatives: It will fade, it can get hot under your feet, it can stain, you will have to clean it.

Its pretty much the same as a lot of the rest like choice or moisture sheild.If your doing this for a living ipe is about the same money as composite and the rail system is a lot less, hang in there Bud. J

My 13'x18' Epoch/Evergrain pool deck has just turned three years old this year and looks fantastic! So far no noticeable fading, staining or scratches have formed. I lightly pressure washed it this spring to clean off normal surface dirt and the results are it pretty much looks the same today as it did the day it was completed. FYI the color of it is Cape Cod Gray and it resides in full sun.

Our deck is 4 yrs. old and we used Evergrain cedar colored planks. The deck faces west, so its exposed to lots of sun. Some fading, but so slight its unnoticeable. We use Behr composite decking cleaner and a low power setting on our washer in the spring ang it looks as if it was built yesterday. We used 16" spacing on our joists and the Evergrain shows no flex what so ever. For a beautiful finished deck, screw the Evergrain from beneath using a great fastening system called Shado Track. web site available. Good Luck

What do you guys think about Tiger Claw or EB-TY Hidden Deck Fasteners.

Just got some prices on Evergrain boardsÂ16 feet 5/4x6 deck board cost $43.27. I also called our local lumber yard and same size cedar board cost $18.90. Considering that my deck is 19x20 I will need around 42 boards, it is though choice between $1,820 and $794, considering that I plan to sell the house in 2 years.
Hmm, looks like I have some dilemma to solveÂ
