I like the towels at Williams Sonoma. The prices are reasonable at their outlet stores. HomeGoods is another source for nice towels. Happy shopping!

mine are williams- sonoma- they last for years!

I got mine years ago at Safeway (I think), and they're still going strong! I like the "terry cloth" type...I like the nap.

I'll jump on the William Sonoma bandwagon. I've had mine for three years and they look like new.

My W-S towels stain badly and the colors do not stand up to bleaching. I love these towels from Ritz -- the "Flemish lintless". They come in decent colors and are very absorbent.

I have had WS towels for over 10years. The survive 190F washes every week. They hold up beautifully and I don't use bleach. All stains are usually powered out by the wash. I don't use paper towels so my towels are used like paper towels for everything except for oils. I have about 120 towels and about 40 dish clothes at last count. I wait till they go on sale and purchase what ever color is being discounted. I tried the waffleweave towels from Crate and Barrel and they shrunk badly at 190F. The WS waffle weaves did not shrink. I prefer the full waffle weave rather than the one that has the large cotton stripe down the middle.

Another vote for Williams-Sonoma. I color coordinate, so I usually don't get to benefit from a sale. But they last so long that it feels like a smart investment.

I had the blue-yellow stripe in my last kitchen (and still use the towels in my laundry room) and now we have the claret and brown stripes for my new kitchen. Love them. I have a total of eight, and therefore use them up quickly and wash them frequently. We're pretty light users compared to other GW'ers; we still use paper towels, wipes or a disposable dish cloth for spills and counter wiping. Biggest uses are laying on the counter under hand-washed dishes & cookware, wiping hands, and drying cookware.

William Sonoma for me too. Colors are great and they wash wonderfully.

Williams Sonoma users: I have some towels, too. But, I have the ones with the cotton strip down the middle, and the waffle weave on the sides. I don't care for these as well as my others that are plain cotton. So, when you recommend WS towels, are you recommending the plain cotton ones, or the ones with the waffle weave?

Williams-Sonoma for me, too! The big white ones - I think they are 4 for $18 - and they last forEVAH. Since I, ahem, find myself washing wine glasses often, I am pleased to say that they dry well and leave no lint behind.

I like the look of the stripe-down-the-middle towels, but I think they wouldn't be right for my use.

The Williams Sonoma basketweave - sometimes referred to as waffle weave - dishtowels are the best! I've recently become a convert from the usual terry type dishtowels. The WM towels wash beautifully and look brand new. If you can love a dishtowel....

Thanks to abbycat and blubird re the weave towels. I tend to use my towels that are more like flour sacks for drying, but I think I'll get some of those waffle/basketweave towels. Thanks

I have many from Williams-Sonoma also, but my all-time favorites are from Anthropologie! They are so colorful and different!

Just looked at the Anthropologie towels online -- sooo pretty!

I also love the Williams Sonoma kitchen towels. I have both the waffle weave, and the "stripe down the middle"/assorted stripes collection. I have them in the taupe colour, and the pink/green combo. They're classic, beautiful and are very high quality. My only complaint is I wish they had them in other colours and patterns others than stripes. Some of their colours feel too "country" for me, especially when combined with the stripes or check patterns. Why couldn't they do a teal blue/grey combo??

I was thinking of getting the white, but I love the pop of colour they bring.

Oh, and I'd love to see them in a damask print or some other type of pattern. I don't know why all kitchen towels tend to be striped...

I like the WS towels, but I'm actually partial to the Ritz brand floursack towels for glassware etc. Lately they've come out with them in colors, which is very nice too. We also don't use paper towels, and wash these at least 2x week: they last and last and last.

Wegman's supermarket (at least the one near me in south Jersey) has a range of really pretty dishtowels in lots of colors and fabrics including waffle, terry and flatweave and they are very moderate in price. I picked up a couple of beautiful, colorful flat weave towels that match my kitchen perfectly -- I think they were 2 for $5 and very well made for the money.

Now I'm looking for a good price on microfiber cloths...anyone?

marciag - I got a 36 pack of microfiber cloths from amazon.com for $16.99! Can't beat that!

They work just as well as the Method granite cloth, and I paid $6 for just one.

Happy2behome-- The towels I liked weren't mixed in with the dishes but were in a display box at the end of the aisle---they were hard to find but you will see lots of different towels in lots of colors and patterns including plaids, paisley, checks and others.
