1 and 2 are similar and more subdued, so I like 3 for the island...it will jazz things up as the centerpiece. It will be a very pretty kitchen!

Are you doing the Super White on your perimeters as well? If so, I would pick the two slabs that are most similar for the kitchen and the one that's more dramatic on the island.

Our island with Super White is also 4' x 9' and it turned out awesome. All the best with yours. :)

are you in NH? (going over your name) Can I ask where you got your slabs if so? and did you test/are you worried about etching? I got a slab from Boston Granite Exchange. I LOVE IT, but I'm super worried about etching. Just curious your experience since we're close

kitchen-reno --I am located in NH. These slabs are from Top Line Granite in Meuthen. That's who our developer sent us to. Not nearly as large a selection as Boston Granite Exchange. I was happy that I found these. Our current kitchen's granite came from BGE. Did not do any testing as I had my heart set on SW and will make it work. Funny thing is I had not mentioned SW to DH and he ended up finding the slabs before I did. Guess it was meant to be!

Agree with xc60. Options 1 and 2 are more similar and look easier to match seams (but I'd check with your fabricator on that) and Option 3 for the island.

I like option #3. I see more variations of grey and it seems to me that it would just pop on that mineral alloy island. Wow. Beautiful! As others have said, you can't go wrong. :)

glad you found what you were looking for! I too have had my heart set on SW (and have been looking, trying to find a "safe" alternative for about 3 months, when we first decided to proceed with the renovation). I just can't find a worry-free substitute that I like (let alone love). I think I may do as you said - just make it work! Do you have little children? Sorry so many questions. I want someone to talk me into it being "not that bad" to choose b/c I really really want it!

Children are grown but have two grandkids who will be by often. I haven't told DH about the etching issue in any detail. The fabricator offers a 'permanent sealer' that they claim will help with 90% of the etching. As long as you know what to expect, I say go with what you love. Otherwise, you'll regret it every time you walk into your kitchen.

I vote for first choice: 1, followed by 2, then by 3. Awesome slabs!!!

Is #3 a darker shade than the other two or is that just a shadow? All 3 are beautiful.
I have Danby Marble & I have been using Range Kleen Silverwave counter mats to decrease episodes of etching. They are very light weight, heat resistant & I just grab one from the vertical storage where I keep cutting boards & cookie sheets. I bought mine online from Home Depot. They are also available from Amazon but there are complaints of shipping damage from Amazon shoppers.

Are all 3 slabs for your space? If so I definitely vote number 3 for the island. It has a lot more contrast and will go really well with the BM mineral alloy.

romy--thanks for the tip! I'll have to check those out at Home Depot.

Texas--we choose the three slabs for the kitchen, with the remnants going in the master bath and a powder room.

Initially, I was thinking #1 for the island, but as others have noted, #3 would make a bigger statement. We plan to go to the fabricator for when they place the templates, so I'm going to leave my options open till I see them again with the templates.

Our cabinets are due to be delivered this week and installation should be next week. So many things happening at the house. I wish I could be there all the time, or at least every day. They were starting on the heating system today. The kitchen installer will appreciate that given the 19 degree temp today! We're having a geo-thermal system, so will have lots of new things to learn!
