Aren't they a great source of inspiration. I have been known to take pictures of interesting tiles.

When I travel, my husband looks puzzled as I take a snapshot of a tile floor, pattern on a hotel rug, pattern in wallpaper. Quilters are so much more aware of designs and color. I just love tile designs.

There is a book in my guild's library that features quilts based on tile patterns. They are great. I am just much more aware of art and patterns in general. Wish I'd studied more if years ago instead of being self taught.

Good to read this...I thought I was nuts to stop my car in a not so safe section of my fair city to take a picture of a hugh wall of graffiti art. It really was spectacular. To me it was an inspiration for a quilt block...and it was near rush hour, so it was busy. Fortunately, it only took a moment to snap the pic...Whoever did the graffiti was an artist!

Years ago, I saw a gardening show about "garden rugs".
which looked more like quilts to me.
They painted "rug" patterns on their oversized concrete stepping stones/walkways.

I've admired Persian rugs before, but they're thousands of dollars;
it would be nice to make a "Persian rug" quilt.
