A very dear, young friend has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung disease, which has already spread to her spine. It seems to have come on out of the blue with no one being aware of the gravity of it.

This is my chemo quilt for her. She starts next Tuesday, so this was a sewing marathon for me.

The top fabric is full of dragonflies and in all of my flannel stash, I found the blue fabric with a zillion dragonflies. The colours don’t quite match but the theme does. When working from stash, I have to make some compromises and the binding is another. I had none of the top fabric left so picked a blue which shows up more in the backing.

Off to the washer now and then delivery before Tuesday.

Feeling heartbroken for her, she is such a good person and deserves better than this.
