My advice is not to use a composite product for decking. If you want a deal, go with 5/4x6 knotty cedar...and maintain it...every year. Or go with one of the tropical woods. my opinion.

I have used TimberTech decking for a lot of years with very good results,far as man made goes, They all have their own little areas that make the Wallet whine and carry on about.

I also read the CR article in my quest for information on decking products and agree with John, in that the it was pretty worthless. It seemed really vague as if they put little to no effort into testing the stuff. However, I have had good luck with some of the electronics (not computers), appliances, and tools they have rated. IMO, CR isn't good at rating anything related to construction.

Consumer Reports is a private organization that accepts "donations" from companies, so to be honest I would believe a word they say. To be honest with you and this old dog has been building decks prior to the composite decking take off and I would put it on any ones deck as with any business man call backs are the worst thing to deal with and these products will guarantee a call back, Personal for look and durability call Advantage Trim and Lumber and ask about the many decking products they carry I said it on a prior post but Tigerwood is a very good alternative to composites and will last longer than this old dog will.
