A front porch would look great on this home. I love the red brick but it could be changed. Many would advise against painting but I still love the look. .

I know there is no window to the right of the door and the width is correct on the first idea. Here is a slightly better idea.

What a lovely home but it could be so much better with a more appropriately-sized porch. The current porch looks very temporary.

As usual, Emily has some great ideas. A stately home like this demands a porch like she suggests, along with wide steps and then a similarly-sized sidewalk. Some judicious shrub pruning is in order too.

Thank you both for the suggestions. We do love the traditional red brick look, so we won’t be painting the brick. I appreciate the mockups, however. And yes - new landscaping is definitely in order.

Here’s a house that I drive past once in a while - one of the sample pictures above reminded me of it. IMO, the white columns and portico are over the top in this picture below. I like the concept, though.

Thank you for these. I agree with you on the house you shared. It is a bit much. We have a few like that in our neighborhood.

You could consider giving the porch roof a bit more pitch, so it reduces the space between porch and second-floor window.
