I would try putting your sofa against the wall opposite your two chairs. Put your end table between the two chairs. Also, need a larger rug so that the front legs of your furniture fit on the rug. Once the sofa is against the wall, hang a pice of artwork or family photos.

Your rug is too small; go for a much larger one. Shop homedecorators.com for that. I agree that the sofa would do better on the long wall with a great piece of art - larger than the one in the dining area. Pull the two chairs around to face the fireplace with a dark square wood end table between them. I would switch out the mirror and dining room art piece, hanging the mirror vertically in the dining area. Try a new drum chandy in the dining area or maybe these red drum shaded sconces. I'd try a glass topped coffee table. Would replace the blinds with something like what is on the door and then hang stationary panels from floor to the lower ceiling height - matching the height in the living area.

I think a larger, jute rug would be nice. Also, for more texture and interest, I would add a couple more toss pillows that coordinate, but do not match the pillows that came with the sofa.

Thank you for the feedback. I will move the furniture around and see how that looks. I'm not sure about moving that art piece out of the dining area; however, I have some other pieces that I have not put up that I can swap out with the mirror. I really like the sconces and the idea of a drum shade for the dining area as well.
