Box spring on a platform bed?

We are purchasing new bedroom furniture for our new build. We really like this platform bed (It's better looking in person-this pic looks a bit off)

We have a king bed with box spring we purchased a couple years ago. I like having to climb up in a my bed. My question is, would it look funny to use the box spring and just wrap it in a sheet?

We also like the look of a sleigh bed

DH liked this one. I like the bed but not the pieces that go with it. They are very similar to the set we purchsed about 15 years ago and recently got rid of.

I assume this one uses a box spring?

I wish these were closer to go look at. I have to drive almost 2 hours to go back and look again. I need to order my furniture soon to have it in time for moving day.

So, box spring on a platform bed? It seems a bit wasteful not to use it but will it look funny? I have no idea what to do with it if I don't use it.

You can also cover your box springs with a fitted sheet. We have a wrought iron bed and beautiful hardwood floors and I didn't want to cover the bottom of the bed with a bed skirt. So I bought a king size fitted sheet to place over the king box spring. It works well and is inexpensive if you decide to change the look.

The box spring may effectively make the headboard unnaturally low. The second bed appears to definitely have a box spring.

A number of places make or sell tailored box spring covers if you decide to use the the box spring on a contemporary bed where it will be exposed, if you don't want ruffles.

Thanks for your answer! I wondered about the head board being low but it seems like that one was about 5' tall. Ruffles are definitly a big NO! I didn't know someone makes boxspring covers although mine are really pretty with embroidered scrolls(thought it was a bit of a waste since nobody saw them because of the dust ruffle.)

I really wanted a platform and DH didn't want a low bed, so to compromise we got a low-profile box spring - 6" high. Of course, this led to a custom headboard. But it's the perfect compromise now...

I'm still undecided. I still love the platform bed and the nightstands that go with it. Ofcourse, when I took the pics of the furniture, I didn't notice that the sleigh bed pieces looked like our old set. (Just the fluted edges remind me of our old set.) I really liked it in the store. It was after I looked at the pics that I noticed it.(The wood is totally different) Guess I'm just going to have to drive down and look at both again. I'll just have to make up my mind and order.
