Faucet recommendations

I have a Rohl/Shaw sink, 30" wide, biscuit color, and am debating faucets. I'm going for a cottage look and I've exhausted my budget on azul macaubas granite. Color will be brushed nickel/stainless steel. Please comment on and help me choose from:

-- Kohler Revival: widespread, not too much $, I like the scroll handles, spout is very tall/too splashy? Is finish PVD?

-- Grohe Bridgeford (widespread): pricier

-- Moen Showhouse Waterhill (widespread): pricey, someone told me disks are not ceramic & thus wear out faster than others; not PVD

-- Cucina Brigidia or Riviera: has anyone heard of this brand, is it reliable, & does anyone have it installed? PVD finish

-- Newport Brass: out of my price range?

-- Delta (probably Victorian): my KD, the snob, doesn't like this brand

Thanks y'all.

    For what it's worth.....
My plumber was here today and said that Grohe's the best, but it's expensive and Delta is next. He said Moen "used to be good". Before my kitchen was demo'd, I had a Kohler and my plumber (he's my friend too) said he hated it because it took 2 months to get parts to fix a leak we had. He strongly advised against getting another Kohler. I went with the Delta Waterfall.

I also wanted a stainless steel pulldown, and looked at all the expensive brands. I ended up with an inexpensive Price Pfister Hanover because it was the only one at the time that had what I wanted: pull down faucet, anti-splash feature, 2-hole configuration, stainless steel finish and matching soap dispenser. (Note: I didn't realize I wanted anti-splash until I read many people's frustration with splashing faucets/deep sinks.)

Anyway, I bought this faucet while halfway cringing that it must be "cheap" since I wasn't paying much for it. It was the only one that met my needs, though, so I held my nose and went for it.

I've had it 9-months, and use it many, many, many times a day. I kid you not, just yesterday as I was using the pulldown to wash out the sink for the thousandth time, I thought how much I really like this item I hesitated to buy. :)

Another thing: I remember being concerned about having to put the pull down manually back in the faucet. I really wanted to like a (Grohe was it?) b/c it retracted. This seemed like a huge compromise on my part, but I made it b/c I liked the looks of the Hanover.

Like so many other things that seemed like a big honking deal at the time, it's a non-issue.

    Good luck!

We have the Delta Victorian in our bathroom for abut 4yrs. It still looks good. We have a Kohler pullout faucet in the kitchen 3yrs no problem with that either. I think that all of the upscale faucets are beautiful but I don't think by paying over $500 for a faucet guarantees that it can't break. The faucet is only as good as the plumber who installed it and the quality of the water that runs through it. At some point you are just paying for art. I have seen some really beautiful faucets for over $800 and if I could afford them I would have them. I just like the look I don't think they would perform any better than what I have. I just can't afford to pay more for a faucet than I did for an appliance. People have builder quality faucets for years without a problem. Unless your snobby KD is going to pay for the faucet that he or she wants I would go for the best of what you can afford.

I bought a Kohler pull-down faucet for my new kitchen and I really love it. Its not on your list - but I got the Kohler Fairfax Pull-out. It has an old fashioned look to it and isn't really tall - so no splashing. It also has a stream and spray fundtion that I really like.

I too was told by my contractor that Delta is an excellent brand. I have a delta in my kitchen and also in my powder room-both we have been redoing at the same time. I have a farmhouse sink and we got the Delta Leland pulldown faucet in venetion bronze. I am in love with it. The granite installers forgot to drill the hole for the soap dispenser but are coming out today to do that for us.

I prefer the relatively low goosenecks (the faucet goes straight up, then out at a 90 degree angle, then has a hump at its end -- eg Grohe Bridgeford) instead of the really high neck ones (look like an upside down U). I only put Kohler Revival on the list because it's cheap and I like the scroll handles. I also started out liking the bridge faucets but I'm worried that they'll look dated in a few years, they look harder to clean adjacent countertop, and they're generally more expensive.

Have you looked on the internet for faucets? I found some great prices - particularly for Grohe on irawoods.com.

    Mary,

How easy is it to retract the head back into the body of the faucet? Do you have to shove it back? Does it stay shoved in? I love the look of your faucet; I'm just afraid of it "dangling."

I second the recommendation of both Hamat faucets and using irawood.com. I purchased my Hamat Juliette faucets from ira wood. I previously had a Hamat Ergo faucet that I also loved.
