Pottery Barn delivery experience?

I'm not sure where to post this, so I apologize if this is not the right place. After making a large purchase from PB for our media room and kids' bedrooms, I started seeing horror stories everywhere about the horrible delivery service. Some people waited months for their items or had them damaged in shipping and replaced multiple times. Has anyone had a good experience with PB delivery? I'm nervous now about a purchase I initially felt excited about.

I've gotten quite a few items from Pottery Barn through the mail and had no problems so don't worry. There are hundreds of happy customers but when we hear negative it makes you nervous. Right now I have a coffee table on order and I'm not worried lol.

I LOVE PB and have always been happy with their deliviers. They have always packaged and delivered everything i have ordered in a safe and timely manner.

Whew! Well that's two happy customers! Anybody else?

Have purchased may furniture pieces from PB over the last 4 years. I had good experiences each time except 1.
I did receive a damaged coffee table. Took pictures, called them etc. They sent a pick up tag and sent a new one. Damaged again. I called and they said they were shipping new one and picking up old. This actually happened at least 5 more times. At one point I had 2 damaged tables on my front porch while they were delivering yet another table.
So there was a computer glitch and a delivery problem. The computer glitch I have no idea about, the delivery problem was UPS. This was a large coffee table and the guys would drag it our of the truck ( I watched, cause it was the same damage every time). Then they would drop it to the ground, thus damaging the corner. I notified PB about this. They were always very helpful although frustrating as it was. Finally got all the bad ones picked up and an acceptable one for living room. They also gave me a gift certificate.

I would still purchase from them

Ordered some bookcase headboards for the kids last year and we had no delivery problems.

I ordered a coffee table and side table a few years ago, again no delivery problems, but I didn't love the tables in person. Had no problem returning them and having them shipped back.

I've only bought one furniture item from them but it was a big one - a king bed with head and footboards. No problem with delivery or setup. The guys setting it up were nice, careful and clean - putting tarps on the floor from the front door all the way up to the bedroom.

I have had both good & bad experiences. If you get something in the mail saying back ordered or something similar, that is not a good sign, unless you are in no hurry. It can take a VERY long time. I have had that happen more than once, but now I know what's coming if I get that notice.

Other than that they have been pretty good. And I will say that they are very generous with their returns even if it's just because the item is not what you expected. Just give them a call & they come get it. Also in the case above with delayed shipment I have always been given a discount or gift card when I called. I would have rather had the item shipped in a timely manner, but at least they work with you.

I have ordered several items with no problems; also, if it arrives and is not to your liking, they refund the entire amount including shipping (which many retailers don't) and you can just call them and they'll arrange for a free return pick-up.

I have ordered quite a lot of items from PB over the years and every delivery experience has been excellent. The latest was two rugs that had a 7 to 10 day expected delivery on them. They were here in 2 days!

I purchased 3 felted wool shag rugs from PB but it was like having 6 large shedding dogs in the house. I persevered, thinking that eventually they would stop losing so much felt but 18 months after purchasing them (8 months of having them down on the floor) I called it quits! PB accepted them back with no problems at all.

I had a pretty bad experience about five years ago, lots of delays and horrible communication. Then an extra piece showed up (for a sectional) and the delivery guy insisted I keep it, even though I hadn't paid for it. I felt horrible about it and donated it to charity.

For all the trouble I went through, PB gave me a big merchandise credit. Took me years to spend it though, because I didn't want to go through it again!

I've had good delivery experiences on the PB furniture I've ordered. Over the years I have bought sofas, bookshelves, kids beds, slipcovers, etc. All delivered w/ no problems.
As it was explained to me by salespeople at the store, there is a difference between ordering from the store and ordering online/catalog. The delivery price is included in the store pricing. So if you need to return an item that was ordered through the store, you get a complete refund.
But items ordered through the catalog/online have additional delivery charges. If these items have to be returned, only the purchase price is refunded.
So, if possible, I try to place my orders through the store.

Nothing but good experiences here and it always seemed like the items came even quicker than they said.

I've ordered a couple of times from PB, and never had a problem. Friday I received something that was ordered for me about 3 days before -- it was fast.

I know how you're feeling. RIght after I ordered a GE Cafe range this winter I started reading all kinds of complaints about it. I was sure I'd have at least one of the common problems, because everyone seemed to have it. But, to my surprise, it has no problems. So take heart.

Everything I have ordered over many years from PB has been perfect on delivery and has come very very quickly. :) c

No problem here either. We've ordered many pieces, both big and small, from PB over the last five years. We noticed a squeak in our sofa after 6 months and they sent a repair company to come and look at it. When it was determined to be defective, they sent a replacement with no problems and we had the old sofa to use in the meantime.

I feel so much better! Thanks for all the feedback; I really appreciate it. :)

I ordered the large Astro mirror. It arrived but was damaged. I reordered it and still waiting to receive it. I was to receive it on June 10th but it failed to get here. July 24th came and went with no mirror or contact. August 10th and August 24th came and went. I’m now waiting on Sept 14th. I have talked with sales representives. They are concern and polite and always get back with me. They give me anew date. Some have said it is due the Corona however I get orders in a timely fashion from other companies. One salesperson said that because it was a replacement by order got kicked to the bottom of the line. I wished I had order from someone another company.

Ordered a coffee table in October and have yet to receive it. The delivery date has been pushed back three times now. I’ve called customer service every week for an update with only to receive a different response each time. Today, I was told the item is lost at their delivery center. Therefore, I can request a refund or re-order the item. Hummmm, how can I re-order an item that is no longer in stock?

I just ordered bedding and much to my dismay, after ordering it showed up with a 2 month delivery time. Ridiculous

I ordered a lot of outdoor furniture as well as lighting, etc. that was delivered as promised and in good shape when it was delivered.

I ordered a sectional sofa and it has been pushed back twice now for delivery. This seems to be their new 'bait and switch' method to lure customers in. They tell you a delivery time (which is already pushed out several months) and then start pushing it back even more without notification. The original delivery time was never realistic, but that's how the lure you in. We are now two months out from our original "delivery time" and there is no promises that it will be delivered at the revised time since it still has not even been built! I love pottery barn, but this is ridiculous.

I’ve had a similiar experience twice! In both cases the item I wanted was out of stock un beknownst to me. The first time I ordered two nightstand and only received one. They rescheduled the delivery of the second multiple times. Until I asked ”Do you actually have the second nightsand?” They said no.

The second situation - I ordered two side tables in a wood finish. They shipped black. I shipped it back and they replaced it, but send me black again. When I talked to the service center and they offered a replacement - again. I asked - Do you have the wood finish in stock and I was put on hold. They came back and said no.

From now on - I will call and confirm the item is in stock before placing a large order.

I am currently struggling with an online order for a coffee table but most of the problem, right now, is the delivery company. My coffee table has a marble top. When it arrived, the top was split completely in half. I emailed them, got a quick response, and assurance that I would be receiving a new one. When the "replacement" arrived, they had sent another base, not the top. I emailed them. This time (around the holidays) it took a little longer to get a response, but again a replacement was sent out. I quadruple checked the email and it definitely says "Top." But then I saw in the tracking that it was "received at Delivery Center" but being held "awaiting more items." This is just one item, so I emailed customer service, who gave me the phone number for the delivery company. I spent part of yesterday afternoon and a significant amount of time today trying to figure out when the top would be delivered after being told different things by three different people. At this point, whenever it's delivered, I'm worried it's going to be broken again, and the coffee table is no longer on their website. I've had my eye on this table for months and finally ordered it before Thanksgiving when it went on sale. Really hoping it works out but at least, based on the above comments, if it doesn't, it sounds like PB tries to make it up to you with credit. I just want my coffee table!

I placed an order for my son's bed on August 7th. They told me it would be delivered between Dec. 9th and 17th. Called on December 22nd and was told that there is no way for them to get in touch with THEIR vendor. They put in a request for update and have to wait 7 days. That was on the Dec. 22nd and now it's January 12th and they are telling me now that the vendor is supposed to respond in 7 days but can take up to 30 days. I find it outrageous that Pottery Barn takes no responsibility for the product they are selling. I didn't buy the product from their vendor.

Pottery Barn delivery service has not improved. I am waiting for a piece of furniture that was listed online as "in stock". The purchase was made August 7, 2022. As of November 1, 2022, I do not have a firm delivery date. Pottery Barn has lost me as a customer if shipping is involved.

same here... and waited on the phone, reached out to twitter and facebook, and still no furniture.

I ordered a bed in August. It was supposed to be delivered October which was late enough. haven’t heard a peep from them and it is now the new year. LOL. No explanations, apologies or check ins, and no furniture!m, for which i paid thousands. i have been too busy to call but it is about time I checked. i wanted to buy kids furniture but I need it before baby is born so I am too afraid to order from them now and will likely shop elsewhere.

Pottery Barn jn Portland Oregon has a horrible delivery service. And the store won’t help with delivery problems.

Pottery Barn postponed a recliner order by 5 months.  I immediately requested a cancelation a month ago.  As of today they still have not canceled the order.  This is an FTC  violation.  I am lodging a complaint with our state Attorney General.  Read the FTC mail, internet and telephone rules requiring sellers to honor cancellation requests when they significantly change delivery dates.  I have spent thousands in the past with Pottery Barn but never again.

I ordered an ”in stock” light fixture in December. One small ceiling mounted fixture. it was due to arrive in Febrary. February arrived and it got pushed back to May. May arrived and it got pushed back to July. The absolute terrible thing (besides the aformentioned scheduling push-backs) is i have received several additional ad emails saying the light fixture is IN STOCK ANS READY TO SHIP! Ugh. PB has seriously gone down hill. i think this is my final order with them. between the false advertising and the BS scheduling, I’m done with PB.

I received a nightstand. It was delivered via UPS. It was packed very well, no damage.

It came on my first day of the window of delivery dates.

I place a large order and I was told that it would take a month, then 45 days now the delivery day is a time between end of June to middle of July, the reason is because they want to deliver them together 😏. No other reason than that, meanwhile we are waiting, and is the meddle of June.

Same Horrible Delivery Experience ... PotteryBarn are experts in overselling a product with their email and marketing campaign. Worst is when you go through their ordering process and don't notice that as you navigate through the ordering process (and its collects your address) it start to change the delivery date by the time your finished. Reason I suspect is that its start to use the logistic logic late in the process. BY THE TIME YOU PAY, you don't realize that its MONTHS LATER!!! and too late to get your money back on custom orders! TERRIBLE FULLFILLMENT!!!!

And, don't bother with their Client Executive Escalation channel, they will simply repeat their partners and suppliers simply SUCK!

@Rock Sympatico - I escalated to Williams Sonoma corporate customer service and received a full refund for the mess PB created. Took multiple phone calls/emails. PM me and I'll give you the supervisors info.
