It would be helpful to know your budget. Romans and shutters are very nice but they are a lot costlier. Cellulars are the least expensive and woven woods fall about in the middle and look very nice too.

Your windows appear to be casements and maybe someone familiar with those could chime in. I'm not sure how the crank? things affect possible window treatments.

I like your bed and whatever window covering you decide on will be bringing even more weight to that side of the room so you might think about moving your bedside lamps to another spot and adding ones that have a bit more presence.

Witht he decor of your room I'd go with a soft fabric roman or decorative roller shade. JCP has their on sale too.

Thank you parma and justgotabme for the replies. You are right, they are casement windows. We just received a large amount of hail damage (waiting for the adjuster right now) and will need to replace a few windows as well as a roof, gutters, siding, etc. So we will be making other decisions right now, which pushes window coverings further down the list. However, if we choose to replace all of the windows at this time we might go to the double hung style. Parma, you are right about casement windows and the operating lever, it gets in the way of my cellular shades that are in my living room. In any case I will take your suggestion about larger lamps. Justgotabme, the only window coverings I like in my home came from JCP! I'll investigate the roman & decorative roller shades. I have to educate myself on what the different styles are. I appreciate your help.

With your furnishings I think romans would be very nice. If privacy is not an issue and you're getting rid of the valances, I would consider sheared curtains pulled to each side. You could let the long side go to the floor. (one to the left, one to the right). They don't have to be sheared -- grommet panels would be lovely as well.
