Things are moving fast--need some help!

I posted this question last night on the Lighting Forum, but it is not as active over there. The person doing my sheetrock told me last night that he would be finished in a week and then my cabinet person called this am to tell me the cabinets would be ready in a week! Everything is moving fast with still many decisions to make.

We looked at the closest Lowes for undercabinet flourescent lights and we did not like the way they looked. The cover over the bulb looked cheap. These lights were high above our heads and we could not see them very well so they might have looked better up close. Also, this is one of the smaller Lowes stores and the selection was not very large. Lowes and Home Depot are the most convenient places for us to shop for lights.

Has anyone purchased your undercab flourescent lights from Lowes or Home Depot? If so, what brand did you choose and are you happy with them?

Thanks!

I didn't like them either so we got ours at an electric store - they have stores all over call United Electric - they cater to electricians but our local store is DIY friendly.

Got ours at Home Depot. They are the highest priced flourescent lights, but still reasonable. Low profile (about 1 1/8" thick). Sold as direct wire or plug-in at our local store, and are linkable. The cover over the bulb is plastic, but can't be seen because the low profile fits within the light rail. I don't think it looks cheap...it looks like what it is. Light is very bright and we do like them a lot.

Thanks for the responses!

I will look at Home Depot to see what they have. I live in a small town rural area, so the choices are not that great.

I also got mine from HD, they are a GE "premier" flourescent, and direct wire....come in a green box. Probably the same as the previous posters listed. They were the most expensive that HD carried, and use the fairly thin light bulbs- T8?, but I'm really happy with them, even for flourescent.
