I was told if you do real wood the embers will burn through the screen as it is a fiberglass screen. I was told natural gas or propane would not be a problem. We hope to install a screen enclosure in a few months and I plan on installing a propane fireplace with logs. The propane will be a lot less messy too in terms of ashes/debris. Good Luck..

I agree. Real wood fire must be outside the enclosure. Gas logs for inside.

Definitely gas/alcohol gel fuel only; 7 feet clearance and free airflow throughout the entire space.
