Finally Finished - YES!!

After 4 months of calling my PB daily, numerous sub contracters handled by me - irrigation, lighting, music, and the contruction of my Bali Hut, I am finally having guest today to enjoy. Although I know that 4 months of construction for the pool and deck is not that long, I was fortunate to have a very good pool builder...although we have had several issues that had to be redone. We have some minor problems with the lights not having enough power, so we need another transformer and the bigget complaint was that my PB used only 1 3hp pump for the spa, waterfall and pool returns. I realized several weeks ago that we could not use the spa and have the waterfall on at the same time...someone messed up...so next week my PB will set up a 2hp pump for the spa and let the 3hp handle the waterfall and pool returns. In any case, it came out better than I imagined and I am really happy.

skp1020: Looks awesome! Where did you get those lanterns? They are gorgious! Your pool/yard could be on the cover of a tropical landscape design book... I've been reading many lately. Enjoy!

Your pool and landscaping looks wonderful. Where did you find the chaises? Everything looks serene and relaxing, like going on vacation.

It's absolutely beautiful. Very tropical and great old growth. I love the hut, too!

skp, everything looks great. I would love to see a closer shot of your Bali Hut. Did someone construct that or is it some sort of kit? Its great. Decking, travertine?

Thanks for your comments, they are very much appreciated. The small lanterns and the Bali Hut were imported directly from Bali. I am in the furniture business in Miami and import furniture and accessories from around the world. All the items that I put in my backyard, I have in my showroom. If you would like more information, you can email me and I can give you my company website. The decking pavers are gold tumbled marble in 4 shapes, with a Pebbletec Midnight Blue finish. Here the close up of the Bali Hut:

Beautiful, love it all. We remodeled with the noche travertine pavers. We sealed them with an enhancer and it needs it AGAIN in all the sunny areas. I am very disappointed because it was so expensive to seal them. It looked awesome when it was first sealed and with in 2 months you wouldnt know the sunny areas were ever sealed. Did you seal yours or are you planning to?

gk5040 - We did not seal the pavers yet as we have some minor repairs suppose to happen next week. We were told that we can either seal them with a shiney finish or a matte finish (just like they look now) I think we will go with the matte finish and do this at the end of Sept. I will let you know how it turns out.

Wow, talk about a backyard retreat. Beautiful. Love the chaise lounges.

Our finish is a matte finish, (that was the only it came we werent given an option) the product was an enhancer which brought out the beautiful colors like when the surface is wet, though it wasnt the wet look. We used StoneTech's Enhancer Pro. @ $200 a gallon. It looks fine in the covered areas, but the sunny areas look like the original slighly chalky finish. I would love to know what you use and how it holds up. My email is gk5040@aol.com. Thanks.

Thanks, I used Hayward Colorlogic LED lights. Originally had hallogen but to me they were not as bright and colorful. The LED has a series of colors that are very beautiful.

I echo all of the compliments of the previous posters. Your backyard gives me inspiration to continue my efforts with tropical plants.....I'm just limited somewhat by climate (Zone 9)!

Please send me your web address so I can check out your Bali items. fishtacoeater@hotmail.com

    LUSH!

    (not you, the landscape. :-)

    Fabulous pool & surrounds. Congrats.

can I get your email or web site too? squirtylicious@yahoo.com

And do you happen to know if the gold travertine you chose is Scavo or another gold?
My PB gold is REALLY orangy gold...yours looks more like a brown gold...is that an illusion?
I'm looking at the Noche color...but I'm afraid it might be too cool of a brown.
Also I see you did not grout/mortar your decking...I'm torn with what to do in that regard because it's so pricey to grout, but also maybe more formal. I've seem pictures like yours where the joints look tight and clean and other pictures there it looks VERY weathered with a lot of gapping and unevenness. Any advice is appreciated. My PB isn't of much help.

    Thanks!

Hi wardsntx. I'm a bit late... it is 2017, so about a decade, but, I love your vision and how you applied this to your yard! I am in TX also. I want exactly what you have! I will be moving to Denton in next 6? months, and will have about $30k tops to build a smaller slice of heaven. I could wait till I could double that, but my dogs are 13-14 now, love to swim, and I want to give them what I can in their last chunk of time here with me. A "beach entry" or these shallow recessed entrances would be a necessity for them. If you happen to get this, and might allow me a small bit of time to get contacts and thoughts from you, I would greatly appreciate. I apologize if it is inappropriate to leave my e-address, I just joined wishing to leave you a message, was not successful. Thanks for posting!!!! neal.mfd@gmail.com
