I am working on finishing my cow quilts -- I had to buy more fabric for one (which led to buying even more fabric -- Pity...)

I have a tornado of work and travel coming at me so I am trying not to join any more swaps for a few months.

I need to get one more big manilla envelope to mail out the crayon cat blocks!

Then in my spare time I want to finish up my Birthday blocks and a friend asked me to sew together a quilt top for her church's Christmas bazaar. Which gave me the idea of making other things for the bazaar. ANd I want to make a children's quilt top for you. (I'm thinking of steam a seam 2 applique for it!) ANd something either pink or patriotic for Lynn's Military Family/Breast cancer awareness event.

Too many things to make, and not enough free time!!!!

I'm working on project #3 Replique, this one is a hot air balloon. Coming along nicely...

Red...three days for YOU to sew and sew WOW! You have quite a few projects organized so DON'T clean the sewing room. When I do, I can't find anything for a week. Have fun and post pics please.

    I'm sitting up late tonight...again.
Trying to get these crayon blocks right, while my blackberries are simmering on the stove waiting to be made into jam.

I'm working on a birthday block, and have the lotto blocks cut out and waiting for my machine.

All the while, my machine is trying to lure me away from everthing so I will come and play with her.

And by the way, I'm becoming an insominaic (sp), that's my excuse for being up this late sewing and canning when I should be sleeping.

I'm sitting here on this quilting forum (catching up on what I missed over the holiday & BOY does it look like I missed a lot!)...INSTEAD of playing with my box of new quilting toys! I finally got my "Quilter's Kit" for my Viking today!! I'm excited to try it out. Basically everything I need to quilt (table, walking foot, meandering foot, free motion foot & FM hoop). Setting up the table to fit on my machine made me clear some space around my machine. So now I have room to quilt. :)

    Well...off to play!

I cleaned my sewing area up on Saturday and made the garden flag I posted. I've been trying to get the printer on this computer to size PP patterns and can't figure the dumb thing out.
Daughter come over last night and we sandwiched her quilt and it was decide to tie the thing but couldn't find any big eyed needles so it needs to wait.
I have a new Pineapple quilt pattern I want to make a small wallhanging out of to see if I can do it before trying a larger quilt. I have the material all washed and ready. I have the material all ready for a Card Trick quilt. But I want to wait until after next week. We have church here Sunday and my father is coming for a visit next week as the children have a promotion ceremony on Monday night and their end of year music recital on Saturday. End of school stuff is keeping me pretty busy and the gardens.I also have to spend a bit of time cleaning the house. I guess sewing is on the back burner for a week.

I've started a PP wallhanging for my sister-in-law's bridal shower in 2 weeks. Need to get that done.

Then I have to finish quilting the greyhound quilt! That's maybe 2/3rds the way quilted then it's done done. The label is printed and waiting.

I've gotten the label onto the quilt for my guild's president...so that's ready and waiting for the end of June meeting to present it to her.

Feeling pretty empty in my studio...feels good!!

We go to the house and answer questions. I think this is the last week of construction and they're down to the nitty gritty. Then next week the 'fine tuning', clean-up and possible return of stuff in storage.

I'm getting ready to go on our first long RV trip since we retired. We're going to Portland, OR for DD's college graduation. Since we'll be gone over two weeks I'm taking my sewing machine. I plan on getting any cutting done at home so I can just sew while there.

Crafteedee I needed that comic strip. Thank you for a laugh to start my morning!
I'm finishing my Dad's National Parks quilt and starting a little door hanging for my MIL's door at the retirement home. Unfortunately I'm also working on homework for class that starts Friday. That means all quilting goes on hold again until August. I can't wait to finish this degree!

I spent last week at my DD house because my GD had her 1st piano recital and GS had his 10th b/d.
I'm working on a throw for my GS. It started with a prototype for my BOM. I just happened to pull out some material I had made pj's for the GS a couple of years ago. Then by the next month and prototype, I decided I should make him a throw. So I have made 12 12" blocks and am working on how I'll put them together.
I had not mentioned it to GS so when I was there I showed him the blocks. He looked thoughtfully and said "that is my pj's-so that's where they went." :) I explained to him it was leftovers from his pj's. "OH" he says. Of course, I got a good smile out of it.
I'll try to post a picture when I get it together.

I am at school backing up data for a fellow teacher. I have today and tomorrow and I'm out until August - YEAH!!! I'm hoping to find a summer job so I can help put money in my son's college fund. I'll have all summer to sew with no papers to grade!!! I'm quilting on another tablerunner and planning a baby quilt for my friend's 1st grand baby. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

I'm finishing up putting borders on a basket weave quilt I saw on the fons & porter site.
After that I must get that one sandwiched and either quilted or tied plus also sandwich and tie/quilt the 3 other tops I have made, two I spy and one LM from scratch not a kit.
I promised myself I wouldn't make more than two tops and then finish them before making more and since I have 4 to do, I sure broke my promise to myself! I must have more disipline!
I do have my next quilt top almost all cut out but I'm trying hard not to do anymore on that one until these are all finished!
I'm trying hard to avoid UFO's!

I just finished the top to a quilt that kind of got away from me - my own idea (which is usually dangerous). As I saw that it was going to be much wider than long, I decided to cut it in half and make 2 throws. I won't even bother trying to explain the design; it will either sound too artistic which it doesn't live up to or noone else will see what it started out to be (which my own family has pointed out to me!) so I'll leave it as an abstract! I'll have to have my hubby help me post pics. And another that I set aside to to do my 'quick' design, is just about done. It was close to being done before, but sometimes I just get a brain freeze and have to set it aside for awhile. Now that I'm back to it, it really is close to being finished too. I'm trying to use up a bolt of green fabric I bought over 15 yrs ago. I was going to redecorate the bedroom and got a killer deal on it, but when I brought it home, my hubby looked at it and said that really was not the color he had in mind. It is odd, so it has sat in my stash, all 22yds of it! Now I'm trying to be creative in using it up! I have a H.S. graduation in a couple weeks and really need to wrap up the sewing for awhile to get the house in order.

I got moved into a window-less office at work temporarily (we have some remodelling goingo on). While I'm supposed to be working, I am reading this forum and planning a cheery wall hanging to help me survive the next couple of months in this office :-)

Marti, don't worry - the sudoku addiction will wane over time! (Ask me how I know!)

I bought and cut fabric for my 2 workshops this weekend, and I keep walking around the quilt frame thinking I really need to finish my niece's graduation quilt! It's intimidating me, I think because it's to be a gift and I want it to be nice!

Heck, I don't even know what day it is..Do you want to know what I'm doing or what I'd like to be doing???..But this being Wed., we're going to a funeral, 4th one in 3 weeks, which is very depressing...I'd rather be sitting on a sandy beach sipping an iced tea....
I'm determined to get my "kitties" done when I get back.....
    Have a good day, everyone

Today I'm making fabric coasters since Islay was so kind to give out the pattern again. Thanks to Dottie for the original pattern, I now have it printed out to keep. They're great fun to make and I loved the one Islay sent me in my squishie for my birthday. Thanks Islay!

Last night I worked on the wall hanging of my Baby goat, her name is Wind. I'm doing it steam and seam. I'll stitch around the edges. I figure that if any of the edges fray it will give it a fur look LOL. I am making this more difficult than it probably needs to be. I need to think bigger pieces. I have looked up the book that maggie_sue is working from on Amazon. Her first post was 05/27/07 (project one) this book shows a womanÂs technique for quilting pictures. I need another book like I need more fabric. That probably won't stop me. My husband buys N-scale model train stuff so he doesn't say anything about my hobbies. I also have an unfinished afghan that keeps staring at me. I did the fun part now I need to connect the pieces. Yuck!

Right now I am procrastinating going out and checking on all the animals again.
Also cleaning the chicken coop. Double Yuck.

    Bye for now

I made the last of the pillowcases for the kids in the families we go camping with each year. They were supposed to be for Christmas but I just finished the last of them last night. They are bright wild fabrics so I thought they'd be fun camping pillowcases. They took no time at all, I don't know why I put off finishing them for so long.

After seeing the placemats that Vasu made from the 9 to 4 blocks, I think I will try some of those today. I'm going to birth them like Amy did on her table mat. I should be able to get them done more quickly that way. It's my last day of vacation. boo hoo

    Hello all-
    Crafteedee-loved the cartoon too!

Well, I am jealous of some of you teachers! I go until June 21...but I am so loaded up with work I will need the extra time.

So...mostly I am doing schoolwork and then trying to fit fun stuff in too. I worked on my garden this past Saturday and bought gorgeous tomato plants tonight but the mosquitoes were threatening to lift me off the ground (not an easy task) so I quit for the night. I have not been sewing, I've been knitting. I have found that if I start my day off with a little mindless knitting, I am more relaxed during stressful times. I have signed up for a Stack and Whack class on the Saturday after school is out and am looking for some funky fabric in my stash (preferably) to use.

I have also been enjoying the sweet breezes here now that we can throw the windows open and freshen things up!

    Take care,
    Kelly - NH

You are all an inspiration! I'm pooped when I get home from work & just get so little done.
When I just have to sew (so I don't go crazy) I pick up my applique. I'm on block 12 of my "Piece 'o Cake" block of the month from 50 years ago. I've been so glad to have it when I just need to do something, I'll miss it if I ever get it done. Jill

I am working on a wedding quilt for my son. He is getting married on July 21. I hope to have it finished for a bridal shower on July 7.
I finished cutting on Monday and have started sewing. It will have 30 blocks and I have 29 more to make. I have sewn all the square in a square centers and marked all 240 HSTs.

I'm working on a 50th b-day pillow for best friend, Log Cabin on one side, Double Wedding Ring on the other, just need to find some trim to make it nice and then its ready to sew the sides up.
Making group flags for girl scout camp in two weeks, and gathering supplies for the 4 activities I'm in charge of. Having a nervous breakdown over the niece's wedding, promised I would be her florist, didn't realize she wanted cala lillies, have never worked with them but found out today that I can hot glue them. She wants 18 corsages, 18 guy thingys, 6 bridesmaids bouquets, and 17 table centerpieces. They are to be "dramatic and artsy with an asian flair" but keep it simple and cheap, as in what do I have in my flowerbeds I can use, and it all has to be fresh flowers, no silks.
If you hear a noise that sounds like someones head is getting pinched off, that's me pinching my niece.

    Sounds like everyone is busy..
I spent yesterday at the dentist (kind of) went in to have my partial sized at 8 then had to come back at 4 oclock to get it.
I ran to Tulsa met daughter for lunch and went to Material Girls fabric shop and it was out of business. Stopped at WalMart to pick up a couple things daughter needed and found my fan fabric I had everyone looking for that was a stroke of luck I never go to WalMart on a road trip.
Got back and the tooth was way the wrong color so a wasted trip.. 50 miles each way.. But I did get to see DD and DGD.
Today I am finishing 4 quillows I am making with the Horizon Visitor in my Garden Applique blocks I did this winter. I made one more block of my own design for the pocket Cute I think any way. Will post pictures later.
Oh Tuesday I had DGS and we made a quilt ladder to hang all my almost finished quilts on I will post pictures later...
I have one week of leasure then I have 3 weeks of running to do...
    Have a great day,,

Made 13 bookbags last week for my Bible study group; a couple of blocks for Red's Q4Ks project; working on the quilting of a UFO that I had on my Flynn frame (took it off because I don't know how to use it very well, need to make it smaller to practice first). Planning a bag for groceries, and one for my son's karate gear.

Aren't you so glad you know how to sew???

I posted this on another thread, too:

Crafteedee - I love Pearls Before Swine, and that strip is great. :D Thanks for sharing that one!

I've not been able to do anything much quilting=-related lately, but I bought fabric for my breast cancer awareness blocks (in honor of Bitsandpieces) to make this weekend and I'm going to start cutting fabric for my carpenters star.

    Coalaska,
I love the little purses. Are the little sayings on the front a material or did you write them out?
    Very nice.
