We were going with DB at first to save a little money but my PB said he was less than impressed with their warranty service. We ended up going with PT and love it.

My stamped concrete deck is not slippery at all but I have read about others saying theirs is. I think the rouch pattern and all the grooves in ours keeps it from being slick.

Tahoe Blue which is in the least expensive, first tier.

What should I expect to pay for pebble tech? I have a quote for $8,000.

I guess it depends where you live and how big your pool is.

I paid $3500 for my PT.

Our previous pool had Pebble Tec (Tahoe Blue). It was nice. It was a good fit for the more natural look of the pool. After about 6-7 years, it was starting to show some bald spots. I didn't mind the rough feel, but the kids did end up with bloody feet on occasion. The one thing I always noticed was a bit of green in the color, so I felt the name was a bit misleading.

In the new pool, with almost insistence by our PB, we went with Diamond Brite (Midnight Blue). After seeing it in another pool, I knew that was what we were going with. Once again, the name of the color is a bit misleading. It is far from "midnight" and really more of a sky blue. It looks amazing in full sun, and not too dark in the shade/dark.

Having lived with it since March, I'm 100% satisfied with the choice. Despite the DB aggregate not being fully exposed yet, I love it. There are some splotchy areas, and the install was not done to my level of expectation, but we're still very happy. We plan to do an acid bath once the temps drop and hopefully that will even things out a bit.

Only time will tell how the DB holds up, but I see little to no blue plaster when backwashing compared to the Pebble in the previous pool. It is much less rough than the Pebble tec and in our case, I feel it goes with the look we were trying to achieve.

Midnight Blue Diamondbrite is a very unique color and I had a hard time finding many people who have gone with that choice. We get a LOT of compliments about the color of our pool and every day when I look at it, it makes me smile. I am a big fan of the color, but understand it may not be for everyone.

Have no experience w/Pebble Tech but thought I would add that our last 2 pool builds we have gone w/Diamond Brite. Our 1st pool we had for 7 years before moving and we had not problems w/it. We had just the regular DB. Our pool now is going on 2 years and we went w/the DB French Grey and love it!

DB Super Blue here - love it. I like the standard plaster feel and the blue aggregate adds to the color. I think PT is rough, although lots of folks have it and swear by it. I say get what you like and don't worry about one lasting a year or two longer.

Hi All, here in NJ we are in the very early stages of interviewing pool contractors and reviewing options for a Gunite pool. Pool contractor A is adamant that Pebble Tec is a far better choice than Diamond Brite. (He does not carry Diamond Brite.) Other contractors B & C use Diamond Brite. Having a hard time figuring out what is factual and what is sales talk.

It seems as most of the folks that are commenting on this thread have probably had your pool for about 10 years.

Can you advise on how your Pebble Tec or Diamond Brite surface is holding up? If you had to resurface, how many years did you get out of it?

Anyone out there from the Northeast? (Freezing Winters, Hot summers?)
