I currently have the same setup what you have and your PB is correct. I installed a valve near the pool equipment to adjust the height of the bubbler. But its only on when I have the pump running. My builder installed it so that while the pumps are running it keeps the sundeck clean and no algae can build up on it because the water is always moving.
You shouldn't need any extra equipment.

A&A Manufacturing makes a unit called *Splashdown* that makes the effect you want.It telescopes up just below the water surface and when not in use is flush in the floor..nothing to stub your toe on...we install them on just about every new pool we build.

If you are looking for a budget sunshelf bubbler option, a regular pool return eyball can be used. We have 3 of these placed in our 6" sunshelf and are happy with the effect per attached picture. In 6" of water, there is enough air that mixes at the surface of the water to create some of the frothy effect Rob o mentions.

Also, a picture is attached that shows 2 of the eyeballs in the 6" of water with the pump off (the black objects in the picture). The only drawback to this option is the eyeballs do protrude above the pool floor about 3/8 of an inch. They do not cause a problem with stubbing toes since the eyeballs are rounded, but just be aware of this fact when considering this option.

A ball valve placed at the equipment pad allows the bubbler height to be adjusted from just breaking the surface to about any height desired with even the smallest pool pumps in 6" of water.

I actually sent the salesguy a link to the watercrystal jet site, which I found on a google search. He said he submitted it to the building dept for review and that if they didn't use them as a distributor that perhaps Jandy made something they could use. Not sure??

Trhought- Great pool. What you have on your sunshelf is ideally what I'd like. .. Nice mosaics, are they from custom mosaics ? I plan on ordering some for my shelf and steps as markers....

I have the same setup at Trhought and our bubbler looks exactley the same. Infact, it is on a valve which can be adjusted to just "bubble" right above the water or to shoot up to 20' in the air.

I would agree with "rob o", and install a foam jet from Crystal Fountains with the 1/2" + venturi line. If you live in an area where the water temperature stays fairly warm, it would be best for filtration purposes to have an independant pump with this kind of water feature. Often times, I suggest installing a small filter with a waterfeature pump to aid in overall filtration of the water.

To divert flow from your pool filtration system to the sunshelf bubbler may cause more algae throughout the entire pool, versus some on the shelf. Your choice of product to use should depend on the look and sound you are wanting on that sunshelf.

I have the A&A Splashdowns in my pool and we install them on a lot of pools that we build. They are great for deeper water but in 6" you will be fine with simple return inlets with eyeballs. You can change the eyeballs from 3/8" to 1" to get the effect you want and they are cheap. The drawback is that they won't be flush with the bench. If you want flush, go with the Splashdowns but they aren't cheap.

As far as these Splashdowns go, aren't they only flush when they are off ?

I am leaning towards the setup that dishnell and trhought have....though the water crytals seem like a good option too.
The only concern was that our sunshelf is supposed to be 6", and I think the watercrystal work in 3-5"

If you have an existing bubbler that has a knock in fitting you can remove it and install streamlinesupplyco.com new and improved bubbler. there bubbler has a tube that rises out of the fitting when valve is turned on. making it more of the belagio fountain look. no turbulance in water or out of control water movement
