Best stretchy slip covers for sofas?

Hi all. I have a tight backed sofa that I need to slip cover. When i see the packages in Target and places I think the ones that are two pieces with bottom sofa cushions being slip covered seperately than all over slip cover looks more appealing. I know I need to just bite the bullet and buy one, try and and return if it doesnt work. I was wondering if anyone has had luck with a JcPenney, Target or store brought brand they can refer. Im hoping to find one in a reddish, burgundy or that sort of tone color if lucky enough. Not to specific on color yet just want it to look nice and not a wrinkled mess on the sofa. Thank you so much in advance. Pics appreciated too.

I bought two of Targets stretch recliner covers to give our miss matched recliners a cohesive look. I love them. Though the size on the package was wrong, they fit a larger recliner than they stated they would, they fit like a glove on both styles.
This was a room in progress (pre-paint too) when this photo was taken. I still thought it worth sharing if it could help you see how snug they fit my chairs even though you're looking for a sofa cover. The wrinkles smoothed out after a bit.

We have Surefit on our sofa and recliner. The sofa has loose back pillows so options more limited. I ordered them online, but some can be found in-stores at JCP and BB&B.

Those Target ones look really nice!

I got the Target cover for my recliner. It went on and looked gorgeous, but after you sit in it and get back up, it looks baggy. I really like the fabric/look and think you can work with it.

There are two things I know to do about baggy slipcovers. One is you can roll up one or more magazines, and stuff them down the cracks. As the magazines have weight, and as they tend to want to unroll, this can hold your slipcovers tightly, yet be easy to remove when you want to take the cover off for washing.

The other is you can buy those little screw-in upholstery pins. I got some at Jo-Anns Fabrics. You can use those to secure your slipcovers just as you like. (Don't use them if you have toddlers who might unscrew and eat them!)

The new stretch slip covers are a huge improvement over the older styles, IMO.

I love the two pc stretch..
    They don't wrinkle
    and stay put the best
    The only thing is
    if you have pets
hair sticks to them like magnets
    even after washing
    the hair is still there

    Thanks GSC.
Oceanna, I forgot that ours did look messy after sitting in the awhile. I took them off to wash them and haven't gotten them back on yet because I was going to add some duck or canvas cloth along the part that tucks in the back of the seat to secure to the back legs better. Forgot all about the magazine trick. I've used PVC before too. That worked very well on our old sofa.

Forboystoo, what is "two pc stretch?" Where are you getting it?

Justgotabme, you mean lengths of PVC pipe? That's an interesting solution. Your chairs both look great in those pics.

Graywings, do yours ever get baggy?

On my chair there was a LOT of tuck-in between the seat and the back. I was thinking about maybe doing something to it with my sewing machine. Of course, every chair is different. But then the guy on CL who had told me someone was in front of me wanting his chair called me back and said come see it. I bought it so I gave my recliner plus brand new cover to my son and DIL. So sorry, no pics, but it looked like Justgottabme's chair on the left.

a few years ago i bought, tried and returned a sure-fit non-stretch slip cover for my wing chair-looked TERRIBLE imo.

this past summer i saw stretchy, microfiber sure-fit covers for wingchairs at b,b&b and i tried one---so much better fitting! i don't sit in the chair very often-it is in our bedroom. but, definitely was a decent, very inexpensive way to give our chair a lift! our cat loves to sleep on the chair and haven't had much trouble getting the fur off.

Thanks Oceanna. I do mean just PVC pipe. I was almost ashamed to share that picture. Thank Heavens our daughter is getting married in a year so my hubby and I are forced to finish our home. Ha ha ha~
