Making store bought drapes longer?

I have 8 84" silk dupioni drapery panels that I purchased at target about 10 years ago. They are a muted gold that worked well with the BM Restrained Gold paint that was in the rooms. Because the rooms I used them in had 10' ceilings I purchased a coordinating fabric and trim to make them the length I needed. When we moved here the drapes still worked and I just kept them. Last year I re-decorated the two rooms and the old drapes were put away. Here's a photo of how they looked before...

Cleaning out the linen closet the other day I came across them and decided to see if I could dye them. I removed the additional fabric that I had added to the top and the lining. It took forever because they were sewn with tiny little stitches that didn't rip out well.

I wanted a charcoal gray but could only find RIT black dye locally. I thought if I only left it in a short time I could get the look I wanted. I dyed the first yesterday without doing anything to the current gold color first. It worked even better than I expected with all of the little variations in the dupioni silk absorbing the dye in different levels for a great (IMO) look. The new color is somewhere between charcoal gray and chocolate brown and works very well with the BM Rockport Gray in the room. Here's an un-ironed close up...

Now the issue is the panels are only 84" and I have 9' ceilings so need to add about 18" to the drapes for the length I need. I thought to do the same as before and make a faux valance with trim at the top. I actually already had a small sample that I had picked up a few weeks ago for something else that seems to work with the fabric. The one on the left that appears gold is the reverse of the fabric.

Another but the flash makes it look golder than it is IRL...

The drapes that are currently in there were brought in from my bedroom and came about the same way. I found those silk drapes at TJ Maxx and again added coordinating fabric and trim. However... after hanging the newly dyed drape I really like the simple look of the panel itself on the rings and started thinking of adding a contrasting band at the bottom instead.

Another view of the room...

Opinions please? Add fabric to top or bottom?

Anyone want to help me find a great fabric that would work with these before I dye the other 7 panels? I am going to use these on the french doors also.
