Bistro Set

this may be a question that should go on the Furniture forum, but thought I'd try this one.

Anyone know of an inexpensive, smaller bistro set in black? I have a fairly narrow wrap around front porch and was hoping to put a bistro set there. If it's too big, it will overcrowd the space.

The more floral, fancy sets are pretty but really aren't my style, and I don't think that look would go with my house. Any ideas or pics if you have a set?

Overstock.com has a lot of bistro sets. I'm in the market for one myself, since we're breaking ground on our wraparound porch in a week or 2. I also saw some really pretty ones in Tuesday Morning.

I saw some nice ones at Big Lot's and while they were white can easily be spray painted any color you choose, here's mine which I have in my guest suite, it was almond, I painted it white, put a round cloth on table, made cushions, and had a round glass top cut to fit.

My project for this weekend is to paint it black and reupholster it. My boys use it as a game table to play chess.

Not sure if this is your style but I was at Ross over the weekend and remember moving bistro chairs aside to get through the aisle. You can check there. They had many sets to choose from.

Is there a Tuesday Morning near you? They have them in different colors.

    Costco!!!

susieq and mlraff - I like the look of your bistro sets. Not as ornate looking as many I've seen and also not as big as a lot of them I've come across.

I am open to spray painting a set, if I can get a good deal on it. I really am trying to find one nice and cheap as this is just another "not needed" item but would fill the space on my porch nicely. DH thinks "filling space" makes no sense as he thinks wide open space is nice! Just like blank walls are his preference!!

I didn't see a set at our Costco when I was there last but wonder if the Costco Home Store (1 1/2 hours away) may have them?

I'll have to take a look at Big Lots and Tuesday Morning. I hadn't thought of those 2 places. I think I like the idea of the price at Big Lots! :-)

Have you tried Craigslist? I saw a wonderful one a few wks ago, but it was before I had a need for one. Now, I'm looking for one, too.
I'm super cheap, though. And also don't like the floral metal kind. I kind of like this one, from of all places..Wal-mart :) Besides, dh works for the Corp. Office so I get a whoppin 10% off, lol.

Try Ikea. In the link they have wood folding chairs with a cute table and then farther down they also have a little bistro set. I really like the folding table/chair set-great price too.
    (try walmart also)

Also Sam's Club - look online

this is why I'm so addicted to this forum!!! When I'm having a shopping dilemma, I just come here and you all have such great ideas!! That Wal-Mart set looks great and is very cheap (which I love). The only thing that would keep me from buying that set is that it't not a folding set. We don't have lots of extra storage space and where I live, the fall/winter can be VERY windy so they could blow away. I'm very bummed...I checked Craigslist today and there was a cute set on there for $40 and right in my town. Too late though...I guess I need to check that site more often! After all of this, I hope a bistro set is really what belongs in this space???

Did you see the folding set from ikea?

mlraff53 - is it the wood set? It does look really nice...do you think it could be painted black? The only IKEA's near me are either in Canada, where the us $ isn't doing too well, or in Seattle, which is about 2 hours away. I wish I had one closer. There was a set I saw at IKEA called Lacko (I think). The thing that drives me crazy about IKEA is how fast they get rid of things. I liked the Lacko chairs and they were cheap but can't find them anymore. They have the table still, which I'm not crazy about, but I can't find the chairs online anymore. They are light green but I can spray paint them. By the way, how do you insert a link? I was going to show you a cheap table at IKEA that I thought might work with some black chairs?

Is that set teak wood? I assume you can paint it but if it gets alot of use then I'd be careful because the paint will end up chipping. Just so you know, the IKEA in San Diego ships out. I placed a phone order for shelves that matched my entertainment center (which was discontinued as you said) and they shipped them out to me.

To insert a link you clip and paste on the "optional link url" box underneath. Then name the link on the second box "name of the link". That's it.

Do you have a Garden Ridge Pottery? Also try garage sales and antique shops. I got mine at an antique shop for $20.

the set wouldn't get much use, really just for looks (which is what just kills my husband). It's west facing and can get pretty hot in the afternoon, so we usually sit out on the back deck, where there is afternoon shade. Thanks for the info on attaching a link. Can you attach multiple links?

Not as pretty as the Lacko but not bad
(you can paste more than one link but I haven't figured out how)

I just found the Lacko chairs on the Canadian IKEA website. Looks like I'll be making a trip over the border...I hope they are worth it :-) What did you think of the table with those chairs?

I think the chairs will look great with the table. Have a great trip.

Tuesday Morning does have a folding set...it comes in 2 colors that I can remember seeing.
