Ironically the staircase and the bench are the only original elements remaining from this 1920's Gold Coast mansion. Hence I cannot comment on the use of moulding. The original lamp that goes ontop of the railing adjacent to the corbel was restored but not yet installed when the photo was taken.

I see, interesting. well just another decorative element I suppose; just stands out to me as a little odd, gives it an M.C. Escher feel! Again, floors are so impressive..
