We have tumbled 4 x 4 tumbled Marble, Chairo which to me is basically Travertine. Have not really cleaned it yet and we intentionally did not put it behind the stove as grease and grout dont mix.

Thank you for the picture, franki1962. Wow! Everything is beautiful in your kitchen...even the toaster. Your backsplash is killer. Would you mind telling me what is on your floor? I have dark tiles on my floor and wanted to put lighter tiles for my backsplash, but I'm not sure that's gonna look good. Thanks very much for your help.

I have scabos on my floor and absolutely love it. The particular color/batch I have would be pretty strong for a backsplash, although I've seen other batches that still had the distinctive grain but were much less colorful.

I used a heavily textured travertine tile for my kitchen backsplash. You can see it here: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2197276770028282443oElrdi (Not the best photo, but you get the idea). Has been up for three years and have not had one problem with it. The tile was sealed and all I ever have to do is wipe it down with a damp cloth.

franki: WAYYYY cute!

Thanks for the kind remarks, we have a lighter tiled floor to compliment the lighter backsplash.

chiefneil, thats some expansive space you have there. The meterial selections look really nice together.
