Trish, thanks for trying but this is not it. The vanilla pudding mix was put into the batter as a dry ingredient. It gave the doughnuts a flavor that was very similar to Krispy Kremes. And they were very soft and tender. But I didn't mean that they were filled with prepared pudding. I know that that has to be accomplished after doughnuts without holes have been fried. Sorry I was probably not very clear on that.

I guess no one has the recipe, so I might experiment with using any doughnut recipe and add a small box of dry vanilla pudding mix into the batter instead of the sugar called for, and maybe increase the yeast called for.

I had never seen doughnuts dipped in melted butter before. Seems kind of excessive since they've just come out of hot oil but I guess doughnuts are meant to be excessive, anyway, right? LOL

There are several versions of a cinnamon roll dough made with instant vanilla pudding added. Maybe that would give you a general idea of what the recipe you're looking for is like. I linked just one such recipe below.
