I love it too, but haven't seen it today, maybe I can catch the reruns.

I like both of them too. They have been my choices since the beginning. I prefer Reggie a little more, I like his relaxed, easy nature; his personality makes me want to be there with him.

I like Reggie and Guy equally. I have a gut feeling they may choose Reggie as I watch the food network everyday at one time or another and have never see an African American with their own cooking show. I think it's about time.

i had told ted last week that i thought reggie would be the next to go. technically, i just didn't feel he was as versatile as most of the others. on the other hand, he's so darned "engaging" and fun to watch that i want to see more! (the only thing i've ever made of paula deen's is brandied mushrooms but i watch her show often--somehow i just find her to be really interesting and fun!) guy is almost as interesting to watch but i did find myself wanting him to tone it down here and there. the folks with more formal training/backgrounds, just didn't translate as well, although i liked carissa a whole lot more at the end of the season than i did at the beginning--i thought she was starting to settle in and become pretty appealing and if there were more weeks of auditioning, think she would have had a really good shot.

have you been watching the winners from last year, dan & steve? i really liked them, right from the beginning. i think they have a lot of good ideas without being over the top, they're self-deprecating and funny--very "watchable". but i was surprised when they won--i honestly didn't think they'd vote in a gay couple. but that won't be the first time i've been wrong this week...in any case, i've just really enjoyed watching things develop on this series, even if almost all on my new recipes tend to come from you guys!

I felt exactly the same way about her. I started liking her last week and even more last night. Before that, she seemed edgy and not very friendly or engaging. Last night when she shared about her mother, I started to have a change of heart. She would have filled a niche with her talent and skill.

Reggie is an absolute natural with people. And he throws in the cutest comments that make me laugh, like when he was plating up one of his demos a few weeks ago and when he began to spoon on the caviar, he said "if your friends are scared, you can just put it on every other one". That was very spontaneous, clever thinking under pressure. Last night he tossed the branch of rosemary on the platter of chicken and said "to remind you of what's in it". To me, those comments of his bring me in close to what he is doing. As long as he doesn't get too carried away with too much "sassiness", I would tune in again and again to see him. He has the same type of personality as Paula Dean -- genuinely warm and makes you want to know them.

I received an email from Food Network this A.M. asking for a vote. I looked at both their bios and I can't make up my mind. I don't want to vote for one and see the other one get the boot. Reggie is so happy and kinda lovable and my hubby likes him best, but Guy is good, too. Oh what to do!!!!

I don't think I'll vote.

I didn't care for Carissa - she seemed to have a bit of a chip on her shoulder. Can't quite put my finger on it, but she often came across a little on the angry side ("angry" is kind of a strong word...but something in that direction).

I like Reggie a lot, but he got a little too cutesy in his pilot. A little of that goes a long way for me. I was going to vote for him until his pilot. Just a little too over the top for me.

I like Guy a lot, too. I think he's entertaining and very informative (just don't ask him any 'pear' questions...lol). So, Guy got my votes!!

Lori, I felt the same way about Carissa, until she opened up about her mother the other night. Then my heart melted for her. She has talent and skill so I hope she will find something that she'll love in which to channel it.

I just tuned in for the second time. I have a hard time choosing between Guy and Reggie. I agree Reggie was a bit too cutsie on his pilot but I thought Guy's food was really unappetizing looking, especially on the Early Show segment.
THere's a big difference between the way these guys do things and the folks on Top Chef. The Top Chef people's presentation is fabulous and they seem so serious, this one seems like a lovefest!

No, he was addressing the chickens as girls. That's something he did on an earlier episode.

These shows were taped way back in December. Why do they make us wait so long? The winner was chosen long ago.

i agree with lori that it's possible that reggie could get to be "too cute" in the presentations and one of the judges cautioned him about that somewhere along the way. and guy could also fall to excess with being "cool/slick" and at least one of the judges made note of that. emerile is probably the best example i know of to prove the point--the first few shows i saw were loaded with "bam"! i'm happy to note that he only says that periodically these days :) anyway, i'll look forward to watching whichever one of them ultimately wins.

i don't know the answer to your question, shirley. i too was surprised to find out that all of this was done back in december. and now will have to 'fess up that i really enjoy watching "survivor". i had no idea that the winner wasn't announced until months after the fact but have never heard why that is...i'd be interested to know why things are done that way.

I liked Emeril when he first started his cooking show. They are still showing reruns of it. Here we get it on Sat. morning. Now, I can't stand his show, especially the way he comes out to the audience with his arms in the air. I do like his band though. I also think Giada and Racheal Ray should not wear such low cut shirts. With all the bending over they do, occasionally half of their breasts are exposed. Did you notice on one Carissa's demos, Alton Brown gave her his sweatshirt as he said her shirt was inappropriate.
I think Guy just may be the winner. He speaks well and is great in front of the camera. We'll know tomorrow night.

Cooking for all those who were bumped should make it a very interesting show.

This morning I caught the last 10 minutes of The Hearty Boys - only the second time I've ever seen them. I like them a lot! I looked them up and I guess they started out last year as one of the next food network stars. I enjoyed them a lot.

marigene and lori and shirley were right--guy won. good job! his next appearance is tomorrow on the early show! poor guy--he's already publically proclaimed he's not an early morning person but i imagine his boundless energy and excitement will manage to keep him going...

I thought Guy was great on the early show this AM. He appeared to be very relaxed. I'm glad it is over as there were too many repeats for the last few weeks. Did you notice all the ads last night? Many more than usual.

I was rooting for Reggie, but I think Guy did do a little better job in his pilot demo. I saw the pilot demos again last night and lagatella was right -- he did address the audience as girls!!! How did I miss that, and what was he thinking???

They were both very worthy and I'd watch both of them if they had their own shows. I was surprised to see he will have a contract of only 6 episodes, but I guess that's to give it a trial run and see how it goes. If he does a lot of calimari and other things like that that I don't like, that will be it for me.

I do want to try the chicken recipe Reggie did in his pilot, that looked delicious.
