Posting pictures

I don't have a digital camera but I just borrowed one to take pictures. So, what do I do after that. Where does everybody post their pictures, and how do you do that? And, if I wanted to use those pics in a listing on Craigslist, do you just link to that site with all your pictures on it?

I signed up for a free album with Picasa, which is a Google site. Since I have a Gmail account, all I had to do was sign in. Picasa adjusts the photos size when it uploads, so I didn't have to resize. You will have to crop if you have a lot of extra space on the sides.

You'll take the pics, then look at them on your computer. Sit back and take them in. Yesterday I went and took new outside shots because the garden is blooming a lot more then the last pics. For me to do this, I have to pull my curtains off of the front large window, move trash & recycling. I also have to pull the cars up. I go to the left side of the house and snap away. When I viewed them on the computer, I see I forgot to move the white plastic chairs from the back. They're sticking out like a sore thumb.

Figure out the time of day to take the pics. For my living room, taking it from the back should be done in the morning, while the front should be done in the afternoon due to the sun. I can't tell you how many pics got deleted because I was facing the sun.

You'll see various shots of rooms in the album below. With my desk in the office, I didn't take the papers out of the paper holder attached to the desk side, they are noticeable in the shot. In some shots you can see what appears to be a lot of florals, but taken from a different angle, it isn't as bad. I've gotten some input, so I know what I have to do if I take more inside shots.

    I didn't use craiglists, so I can't answer that.

With craigslist, you just link from your hard drive, no photo hosting necessary.

For other things, I used photobucket to host pics. It's very easy to use. If you know html, you can add extra pics to craigslist ad's, although I have never done it.

Just testing to see if I can succesfully do it now:

Marvelousmarvin, I hope that you aren't planning on using that particular picture for any advertising.

I think he should finish his cookies first-LOL

love the Gevalia coffee, one of my favorites

Is that margarita mix - I'll have one and a cookie too ;)

Craigslist lets you upload 4 pictures straight from your computer. If you want to show more you can provide the link to the picture album.

    terricks,

Don't you know, by now, kitchens sell houses.

I'll have a cup of tea and a cookie. Are they Peanut butter cookies? ;)

I'm with whomever said not to use that pic. I hope it's only a test! lol

BTW, is that a GE range? I had the gas version.

Who drinks margaritas out of a sippy cup?

And bad pictures of kitchens help people eliminate houses from their search.

If you use Photobucket, PLEASE reduce the size of your pictures to something like 800x600 at the most (400x600 is better) before uploading them. You don't need any fancy software, the basic image software that most likely came with your computer, like Windows Paint, will do just fine! We don't all have monster monitors (if anyone would like to send me a new extra-widescreen laptop I'd be more than happy to accept it, but I won't be able to afford one for a long time) and having oversize pictures screws up the text in the rest of the thread, forcing the reader to scroll left and right to read each individual line. It gets extremely annoying. (It's a netiquette thing, kind of like not typing everything in capital letters or, worse, 24pt bright red type in some fancypants font. *shudder*)

Or you can use Picturetrail, which also has free accounts, because they resize your pictures automatically when you upload them (I use the medium setting). Picturetrail also allows direct linking and IMO has a nicer public album design than Photobucket.

webshots also has the smaller size versions available. You can choose from a few different sizes.

You can even go in after the fact on Photobucket and resize your pics by using the edit feature. (hint, hint)

Welcome to the OC. This is how it's done in Orange County.

Okay, I just resized the picture but now its way too small. You can no longer see the fine craftsman details in those cabinets. And, without being able to see the Gevalia coffee or the margarita mix, the kitchen seems a bit sterile...

Alright, since this is my thread, let me try to post another picture but at a smaller size than the original:

I just need to see how different size images will appear on the screen so just bear with me... Is it considered better netiquette to actually post a picture or put a link to the pictures on photobucket? Now, all I need to do is find a place where I can a digital camera with wide view. Its been surprisingly difficult so far to find one.

    vs. this size:

Rather than the clutter on the countertops, why don't you put a colourful picture above the stove? That would desterilize it.

The photo of the cupboard/craftsmanship does not show what room it is. All it looks like is a cupboard. A cupboard doesn't sell your home.

OK, now you are just baiting everyone. Either that or you've been at the sippy cup again.

Make sure you fixt the fraying carpet and put the toilet seat down ;)

I'll have a Margarita in a sippy cup - any which way works. No chance of wasting any from spilling after I've had to many. Got to be practical. :D
