Here is a listing that someone showed me.

Here is a link that might be useful: Cherry Hill Mansion.

    1. I recognize the mauve carpeting - it's in my 1983 bedroom, too.

In three years... three years, I will be able to rip out all of the 1980s-colored carpeting and put in hardwood floors. :-)

I'm still not sure why the movie "Blow" was the first thing to enter my mind upon viewing those pics.

    Possibly because that's one coked-up nightmare ...

"Well -- as Mother always said, "If you can't say something nice..."

They had a nice piano. Now I've run out of things to say.

Oh come on, you gotta say something nice about that theater room, if only about the size of the screen!

    Um...thanks for sharing?

And you know, someone was paid, in US Dollars (probably) to decorate that place.

Real Housewives of Cherry Hill, coming soon!

That'll be a quick and easy flip to a retirement home. Just add the shuffleboard court and the Zumba game.

    Well, as a natural-born West Coaster, I think it's a mobster's house.

My hair just got bigger looking at it!

    Oh dear.

Well, I'm hardly one to critique the decor of others, but...wow...where to even begin on that hot mess? I'll have to sleep on it and get back to you with coherant comments.

In the meantime, the outside is actually ok for me. The exterior and the landscaping isn't offensive. Whoever did the interior architecture though...needs to not do that ever again.

    >>How many square feet of wallpaper do you think is in that house?

More than your little grey and my little grey could peel in a week! lol

Okay, my eyes are getting bad, but what is that woman/thing in the bathroom - on the mirror?

The home is very tidy and uncluttered : )

To quote my grandmother's favorite "swearing" phrases: "Oh my heaven above. Great day in the morning! Bless their hearts."

I was impressed with the vacuum tracks in the acres of carpeting. And the ingenious use of rolling chairs in the kitchen, so you can just roll over to the fridge.

    Thanks for sharing!

W2W carpeting, wall paper, sectionals everywhere, black fixtures, 80s at its ugliest best ;)

Yes the media screen was awe inspiring, but why wasn't half the seating facing toward the screen?

Imagine the listing agent mulling over the wording for the ads? Imagine what to say before and during a showing.

    I'm speechless.

If the listing is right, the house was built (and decorated) in 1998!

The house was obviously meticulously decorated when it was built. And it seems like the owners were interested in keeping up with the neighbors. Then what happened? The house appears to be well maintained but completely untouched otherwise.

    Very odd.

I just did a quick look on realtor.com and zillow. The house is priced way over similar homes in the area. The zillow estimate on the house is just $900k.

    Curiouser and curiouser.

Ugh. This is what gives NJ its bad name! Not all our houses look like that! Although, I do still have that mauve carpeting in my living room and dining room (selected by POs when house was built in 1985!). Ugly but high quality and unfortunately still looks brand new.

I do appreciate the vacuum lines!

    Wow!

    Just Wow!

Oh my. That is over the top even for 1985! How fun.

They went the "full Guido" on that one.

    LOL, jterrilynn! That's hilarious :)

Actually, I like the pink kitchen. I remember when those polyurethaned Eurostyle cabinets were considered chic. It's a perfect period piece. I'd redecorate the house but leave the kitchen. What a hoot, and it would become even more so over time.

I agree with dee that it's very odd for a house built in 1998 to be decorated like that--???

    wow!!! they really LIKED PINK!!!

i really dislike the foyer--whatever designer matched that flooring to the wallpaper was crazy!! and the pink fireplace is really hideous imo.
the wallpapered, boxed in support pole in the basement cracks me up!
i do think the piano room is cool---totally not my style, but i can appreciate it and think it looks nice!!! very nifty to outline the cool shape of the sofa with the carpet! lol
i do like the aqua sofa in the den/study...though not in that room!!

Maybe there was a reason to have a bar right outside the master bedroom.

At $2.9 million, they needed to have removed much of that horrible wallpaper.

Jterrilynn, I think you win the prize for the funniest post on this thread, and there were SO many hilarious posts on this thread!

I like the size of the rooms! :0) Good bones....Oh...and nothing to fix on the outside of the house....

Isn't that where the Sopranos live?

    HGTV Property Virgins:

    ""I like the windows!"

"Yea, these rooms are really light!"

"I think we could cook in this kitchen...."

"Does the big screen come with the house?"

    _______________
The best thing I can personally say is...it's hopefully only ONE layer of wallpaper.

    oh. my. goodness.

Proves the point just cause you got money doesn't mean you have good taste!

Wow it's so bad and ostentatious that it's almost good in a far out there way! Reminds me of the apartment of one of JR Ewing's whores back in the day.

Oh, and even Carmela Soprano had way more class than that!

Pal, what on earth could you do with a dining room like this?

All that ceiling, all that space to fill, skimpy molding...

Even if I had the money to buy the house, I wouldn't know where to begin decorating it.

You have to admire the housekeepers for their precision vacuuming. The machine tracks in the carpets are so uniform.

HIS family on the left, HERS on the right?...

...you come to me on this, the day of my daughter's wedding...

Fredo must have been the decorator. No wonder Michael shot him.

I'm serious - what is that "image" on the bathroom mirror? It's picture 18 of 25. I keep looking at it and can't make it out.

Looks like a lady, but I can't tell what she's doing. Strange!!

I think she is seated by a tub or body of water pouring water from a container.

The thing is that in this area people are still doing this "look", albeit not so identifiably 80s--as we speak.

I think the house is either 23 (1988) or 31 (1980) years old.

The listing says 13 yrs old. They were so fond of their 1980's furnishings they moved them to the new digs?

    Property Features

    * Status: ACTIVE
    * County: CAMDEN
    * Area: 20409
    * Subdivision: VOKEN TRACT
    * Approximately 1.84 acre(s)
    * Age: 13 year(s) old

I looked at the pics on my laptop last night. I didn't get the full impact until I checked them out again on a larger monitor today. So entertaining! Thanks Pal!

    and jterrilynn...too funny!

You have to admire the housekeepers for their precision vacuuming. The machine tracks in the carpets are so uniform.

    But why???

I know the listing says 13, but I think its a typo. One of the others says 13 as well, and I know from places that I have looked at that they are sometimes way off.

1998!! I get it! The Wedding Singer with Adam Sandler was released that year. Remember Drew Barrymore's fiance trying to emulate Miami Vice - and his house? Exact same interior design. These people - or the decorator - are fans. :-) Of Adam Sandler... or The Wedding Singer... or Miami Vice. Mystery solved.

    Thanks Pal!

Wow...my guess is the original owner won the lotto in the 80s but only had the money to decorate it once?

I hope that's a great fixer upper price for that area.

    :)

I have never, ever seen so many people in agreement on any forum, ever. I've been online since the BBSs of the 80s, which is the same era of this ... fabulous ... house. But I do think this is an agreement record! :)

I continue to be impressed with others' "bravery" in going with what they want and their incredible taste.

Shows to go 'ya that there's something for everyone, but not everyone on this board!!!!!

And they probably wonder why it hasn't sold. Can we email them links to Design to Sell? The Unsellables? Stagers?

That has to be one of the single ugliest homes I've ever seen.

I can only hope the owners have gone into the Witness Protection Program.

    WHEN

    IS

    THE

    OPEN

    HOUSE?

I say everybody in the area should meet there. Flash mob. Some sort of dance in that dining room.
