The dark stain of the molding is a sharp contrast to the stark white of the walls. The problem is, if you start painting the molding in one room you'll need to continue it throughout the house. That's a lot of work! I think if you warm up the walls the molding will be fine.

Your pictures don't enlarge at all so it's difficult to really see the fireplace, but from what I can see if looks fine, I wouldn't touch it.

I like the white walls, i don't think you should change the colors.
The fire place I would make it plain white.
What I would really-really do would be to replace the tiles on the floor with a nice dark and shiny wooden floor!
As you can see, the wood/brown profiles between the walls and the ceilings shows that some quality wood is needed.

No the furniture is from previous owners. We are actually moving in tomorrow!! You are right, the stain is everywhere and if we paint, we will have to do everywhere. I don't see any houses with stain anymore, so not sure if it is out of style. Thoughts?

The trim looks to be in pretty good shape. I like some warmer colors with the trim color. Anywhere and inbetween Ben Moore HC 25-36. Before I painted my trim white, I went with Powell Buff and Wilmington Tan with my darker wood trim.

I too like the color of the walls. It enhances the beauty of the wood as it will your furnishings including the photography you place on the walls. Wood does not need to be reprinted freq like painted does. You can us the extra time and money on a vacation!

the walls are nice with the big windows and I like the ide of painting the brick fireplace white--i did it to mine and it is very trendy and bright. dark wood floors would accentuate, just as the architect said--are you going to have your furniture facing the fireplace and outside? much nicer view than a wall-the tv could be mounted over the fireplace. the windows are great!
