New Cool Tool I bought

Went to Joann's last week to get a *few* things :) and I saw this Marking Ruler Trio, so I picked it up. (at 40% off of course!) The ruler has a line down the middle, and each side of it is 1/4 inch. I used it on HST tonite and it worked great!! You lay the center of the ruler on the corners of your block and then just draw your lines down each side, then sew on the lines. When I used a ruler across the diagonal, my lines were not always perfectly centered across the patch...so I love this!! I think it was origianlly priced at $13 or $17. Anyone else use these?

I do, and love mine as well. I use them to mark 1/4" seams all the time. They are so easy to use!

I've not seen that particular ruler, but it looks like it could be very helpful. I am such a gadget junkie I have stuff that I've not used yet. I'll have to look for that one.

    Oh Woodsy

Thanks so much, that ruler is too cool I had not seen that one and I could have used a ruler like that on the last HST project. Now I need a JOanns coupon. lol

I'm a quilting gadget junkie too! I bought those not too long ago, and I LOVE them. I use them all the time!

Nanci, they were on sale, without a coupon! maybe they are still on sale!!

I really like that you got 3 different sizes too....it was a pain marking 3" blocks with a 24" ruler!!! lol.

I might have to go check out Joann's tomorrow. Those rulers are so cool.

I have that same problem. That would be great. Next time I get to Joann's I'll have to look for that one.

I must be dense LOL How wide is the ruler? Looking at the block you have and lines drawn it look like a regular School size ruler?

Red~the ruler is only 1/2" wide and comes in 3 lengths. The nice thing is that it's clear with that center line in order to line it up on your fabric corners for the long diagonal.

I have a different ruler (gadget) that will do this as well. It also has slots down the center so that if you do want to mark that diagonal you can mark it as well as each 1/4". Use it all the time.

I have the one Jennifer describes and I love it.

    Woodsy,
That is a "cool tool". I just mark my center and use my 1/4" foot to sew HST. I'm sure I could be more accurate with this. I do have one with no markings just a center line but I forget to use it.

    Thanks for reminding me.

I have one, too, but mine has a cut down the middle seam line so you can mark that as well. I love them.

She who dies with the most (quilting) tools wins! Seriously, since I "allowed" myself to have more than a 24" ruler and an 8" square, I have discovered I can be a lot more accurate than before. It is amazing how the right tool can make it more fun and precise.

gauralady..I too find my patches are more accurate if I use a specific tool. I've tried that speed cutting, but I don't see well..so cutting one block at a time, with the right sized template works wonders for me. May be slower, and I waste a little more fabric, but my patches turn out soooo much better.
And as far as gadgets go...I'm aiming to win!! LOL.

Oh, no! Now I'll have to go to Joann's . . again. Anything that makes me more accurate is a necessity.
    Thanks for sharing.

That's a great ruler! As much as I love to use HST, I NEED that!

I just bought the one Jennifer described -- a 12" long Quilter's Tool II (I think is it's name). I had seen them online and wondered, then saw this post and the high recommendation so I had to get it!

Thanks for the tip! Can't wait to get started on those HSTs!
