Silgranit care question

I have a question before I go ahead and order our 1 3/4 drop-in cafe brown Silgranit sink (just had to type all that out, I love the sound of it!). I understand the care so far as mostly just needing a wipe-down and run cold water when pouring boiling water into the sink, and no chemicals. That means I'll clean my paint brush and tools in the basement instead of the kitchen. But what about mop buckets? Can I pour a bucket of water with floor cleaner being used to mop the kitchen floor in the sink? Can I rinse my mop in the sink? I largely use Armstrong floor cleaner and sometimes MopnGlo and rinse my mop while using. Do I have to avoid Silgranit for those chemicals as well?

I've done all of the above with no problem. I've have my Diamond U Cafe brown silgranit since November and it still looks brand new. I've even had a coffee mug fall from about 10 inches above and smash into the sink - not a scratch on the sink - can't say the same for my mug though. I use Barkeepers Friend once a week or so and the rest of the time, just rinse - I love my Silgranit. Good luck

I have the sink in the same color, and it's awsome: you'll love it.

The floor cleaner will be fine, but I personally feel that sort of water should go in a toilet or utility sink.

I've had mine for almost 4 years now, and I pour boiling water into it (pasta draining) all the time. I clean paint brushes, etc in it. The instructions I got with mine, said I could use acetone to remove any residue from the stickers in it. If the water in your mop bucket won't hurt the floor, you can probably rest assured that it won't hurt the sink. I use ammonia in water to clean some things and that gets dumped in there too. I always rinse the sink after any of these activities, so none of these things sits in there for very long.

    This sink always looks good!

Well that's a relief to hear! Thank you!

There is nothing stainless steel in our house. There is chrome in the bathroom upstairs. It's a very old house. So we've opted for the eventually-will-go-out-of-style ORB for the kitchen. If we didn't do a Silgranit sink we would probably go with a Ticor SS and I really didn't want to!

I'd like cleaning/bucket water to go in a toilet or utility sink as well. But that means about 14 steps in each direction. I couldn't imagine doing that each time I want to rinse my mop! Doing it now every time I need water (for 11 weeks now) is starting to get old! As am I, lol.

Sprengle, I'm sharing in your excitment - I ordered the Vision U2 Silgranit in Cafe Brown too and I think it might be the thing I am most excited about for our new kitchen. I ordered the matching faucet too in the same color! Thanks for asking this question - I have yet to see one negative review for the silgranit sinks!

I hear your excitement, mrsmonkey. The sink and the faucet are my big splurges. AW cabinets (but with every feature I wanted), laminate countertops and no radiant floor heating. But doggone it we're getting that sink and faucet! lol DH loves the sink as well. He saw HD's version and pointed it out to me and I'd already starting lusting after the Silgranit after reading about it here.

I want to order it as soon as we get these stinking cabinets installed!

I pour my bucket water outside--don't really want dirty water in my sink. Also, I let water cool before I put it down the drain, and do not sit hot pans in it.
