Here you go:

Cheese Straws

1 (5 ounce) jar Kraft Olde English Cheese spread
2 sticks butter, softened (no substitute)
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
cayenne pepper, to taste

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Cream cheese and butter until smooth and fluffy, add pepper, then mix in flour until well mixed.

Line baking sheets with foil, first to save clean up and second, to cut down on breakage. On ungreased foil, pipe cheesestraws with star or basketweave tip onto foil into 3 inch strips and bake approximately 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

Pat, these sound great but can you explain the chesse spread, I don't think I've ever seen that brand, is it thick, is it a processed cheese? What do you think would work as a substitute?

It's a small jar sold in my grocery by the Velvetta. It's comes in a little clear jar with a pry off lid. Well, at least they used to be a pry off lid. Haven't bought for ages. Sound familiar?

Here's the one I always make:
CHEESE STRAWS
1 scant cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Dash of cayenne
1 cup grated sharp Cheddar
5 1/3 TBL butter
2-3 tsp water

Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, cayenne & cheese. Add the butter & rub in until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle in enough water to make a stiff dough. Roll out about 1/8" thick & cut in 3x1/4" strips. Bake on a cookie sheet in a preheated 400° oven for 10 minutes or until slightly brown.~~ (Works in a food processor, too.)
