Living Room Lighting

We've been slowly working on our living room. Thanks to this site for helping me pick out a rug. It's working great for us (crate and barrel indoor/outdoor rug).

We are going to get a new sofa soon, and I will hopefully find a suitable dining table on cl as well (larger and dark wood are my preferences).

Right now the north facing room gets not that much light unless it's quite sunny, despite the large windows. Right now the lighting is over the dining table (I'm getting tired of this fixture, but it's going to stay for at least awhile), the directional lights over the fireplace, and the piano light.

I want to add a floor lamp on the right of the fireplace. I was thinking this one from ballard, but I'm not sure on the finish. I am iffy about adding table lamps, as my children are still relatively small and not always that careful.

I quite like the antique brass, but most of our finishes are brushed nickel. I don't know if the brass would clash, but then I feel too matchy with the aged silver.

Any opinions about what finish to get on the lamp as well as any other lighting options/suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Here are a couple more pics of the room:

One new thing that we're super happy with is our new tv console with sliding doors that can showcase my dh's vintage stereo.
