'white explosion' progress, granite is in

For those of you who offered such great advice on my panic thread Mon night and anyone who followed my in progress report and photos, as promised here are my new pictures.

The granite went in today :) Yay! I have some color and another layer is added to reaffirm my original vision. I was looking for a medium grey with some black/brown and cream to go with my painted white cabinets. The stoneyard calls my slab Oyster Pearl but I found it is more commonly known as New Caledonia. My slabs were heavier on the grey tone than some other Caledonias, which can be heavy on black or heavy on brown from what I found in my area.

This is the sink bump out I wanted

I got it with an Ogee Edge

This is one of my two seams (it's still a bit wet)

Just another view with my cabinets

Thanks for looking and again for all the encouragement about stepping back (drinking my wine) and waiting as each layer of color or texture is added so I can love my kitchen. :)

It's gonna look great! phew...now you can relax...LOL!!! (I laugh only because now your headaches will turn to other things!)

It's looking great so far! Now on to the next step... Sorry, shouldn't have reminded you of that :)

It looks great katiee! Are you happy?
I'm still struggling with my decision, but leaning more towards the New Caledonia. I'll let you know what I decide!

Thanks everyone! I said it was going to be a surprise since I couldn't actually remember WHAT my granite looked like..... but I am happy it was a good surprise :) DH, the fabricator, the installers and the GC all love it and thinks it's perfect with the white cabinets. Me.... it's a bit different then what I remembered, so I now have to change gears.... I thought it was heavier on the black and brown and I planned to go with a chocolate milk sort of wall color. Now that I see it reads a predominant cool grey color, I am stumped.

How's that for an answer rose?? I haven't got a clue at this point. Any suggestions?

mairin - my new headache started sooner rather than later. I stand there and stare at it and know now I have to change direction on the finished look. Definitely need to sleep on this one..... then probably come back begging for more help....LOL

traci29 - as you can tell from my comments, my 'next step' has hit the proverbial brick wall. Okay, maybe not the NEXT one. All agreed my choice of Spanish Antique Pewter knobs was the hands down winner. Yay! That was my choice :) So, can I count that as completing the next step?

pattyk - yes, I am happy. I would rather be ecstatic.... but that can't happen until I pick the paint color and make my final decision on the floor...... then I will be very, very happy. I will say, your sample of this stone is darker than mine and I am jealous you found that. It would have made my choices so much easier. Good Luck!! Be sure to let us know what you pick..... and pictures, lots and lots of pictures :)

Katie, your kitchen looks great! Glad to see that you got your bump out. Did you end up doing a 1.5 inch bumpout similar to my kitchen?

I think maybe Grant Beige HC-83 would like nice with your granite.

hi ni 2006 - great to 'see' you again :) Yes, I got my bump-out and it is wonderful!! Adds the dimension I needed to my small kichen and breaks up that straight line of cabinets. We went with the 3" bump out BUT I took your advice and made sure the sink was also pulled forward to be standard installation from the front edge. Another bit of advice I have kept in the front of my mind for the pull-out tray piece is NO PULL, so I can't get my pockets caught on it :) I found a real cute finger pull that I think will work there. Thanks again for answering my questions, you helped us turn a design element I really liked into a reality!!

Hi bestyears! Thank you for the paint recommendation, I will take all the advice there I can get! We just got a new Ace Hardware by my house and they carry BM Historical Colors..... yipee.... I will definitely pick up a sample of that :)

Sink and faucet get installed today and I can order my cabinet hardware, now that my original choice was confirmed. We are finally getting somewhere. Thanks again to everyone. As others have said, I will repeat, I just don't know how I could get this done without all the wonderful GW'ers here and their priceless advice :)

    Katiee511,

Wonderful. It came out so much better than I imagined.
I voted for New Caledonia color and I am so glad it turned out beautifully. I can not wait to see the finished kitchen. Ogee edge is perfect!
Seams? What seams? You have none it looks so good.

This choice and installation went so fast. What did you do
light a fire under them? I wish mine was going this quick. I am still waiting but at least my slabs are chosen.

    Enjoy your counters

    hi boxerpups - Thank you!
I'll clear up the mystery for you..... I picked my New Caledonia last December and then recommended it to pattyk awhile back. It was just a really weird coincidence that mine was being fabricated at the time she was asking everyone to vote on her final choices. So, no fire lighting needed, it was being fabricated as we were all posting. Isn't that the strangest thing?

Another great reason we all love this board, you ask an opinion and someone may just pop up that is living your decision at the moment or just recently went thru the same thing! I love this board!

Okay, so don't keep me in suspense. I voted for Jet Mist, what was your final choice???

hmmm wall color? I decided on Lenox Tan for my kitchen. My granite isn't in yet but I know the color will work with everything since it's a warm, neutral mid tone beige. Would you consider a color instead of the original brown you were thinking of? If yes, you could go with a grey/green or grey/blue so you'd have some color instead of matching the grey in your stone. If you still want a neutral, then what about a cool neutral color? Here are a couple BM beige colors that are cool neutrals and another gray/green (grant beige is a gray green but more gray):

    HC 80 bleeker beige
    HC 26 monroe bisque

    1563 quiet moments

I have a BM fan deck because I'm color crazy!
