Looking at the appliances, my guess is 80's

I'm going to agree with Errant, the black glass front appliances were pretty much an '80s standard.
One of the first kitchens I did as a young new contractor in 1982, was a Poggenpohl. Talk about going to school on a job, none of us had ever heard of pre-fab euro style cabinets! Had to buy a metric tape measure just to install...

And look at the white melamine interior that still looks perfect...so much cleaner looking then pre fin maple plywood, and imagine that the hinges haven't pulled out of the melamine either!

I always chuckle when the debate starts about plywood interiors vs melamine interiors....

I don't think Poggenpohl came to the U.S. until the 80's.

Even so, door style and finishes don't change every year at the German makers. That UK pic could have been mid to late 70's and that door could easily have been around in the 80's too.

NSMom might be right about it being 70's. Look at the Thermador Thermatronic combination ovens. I believe those were Thermatronic II in the 80's, and may have even had a flip number clock.

Oh, and that second kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!

Agree that it probably was a while (a couple of years) before the kitchen made its debut in the US. In fact, I think that new kitchen trends start in Europe and then move west, i.e. first East Coast, then across the US.

So, we may see more slab door, either high gloss white or blue, or walnut, teak, oak; ceramic and quartz counter tops.

I was just reading an article about Poggenpohl and how they're not worried about cheap Chinese import products because the Chinese don't have the necessary machinery and know how. The interesting thing is that even the discount kitchens in Germany are built by Nobilia under a different name, so the price difference is in customer service and customizing, i.e. kitchens that are height adjustable.

I renovated a kitchen in 1978 and those cabs are in my ideas folder. Didn't use them but still lusted over them.
What I think is really cool is that they still look modern after all this time.

I agree. They certainly don't look like they're almost 40 years old.

Dishwasher looks like early-70s Waste King/Universal, these have stainless steel interiors, since folded into Thermador. Cabinets may or may not be the same age.

The title in the second kitchen is definitely 1970s color scheme and design.

We have a 1962 Thermador with concealed downdraft that raises and lowers into the back of the unit--still works great. Just listed it for sale in fact.

I went to look at stripping one of these kitchens out yesterday in black. Very cool indeed. I found a brochure online with this kitchen on the front cover 1978
