Porch pics

Thought you folks might like to see a few pics of the porch mr. sandyponder and I (and our contractor)have been working on the past month.

We are finally finishing up the house we built 2 years ago, and one of our projects is a three season room on the east side (main entrance, but at the back of the property, if that makes sense). We purchased panels with removable screens/storms from a company called Vintage Doors and are very pleased with how it came out. The entire space is 44' x 14', and includes the main entrance to the house in the middle. LR area is on the south side, DR area on the north, long exterior wall faces east. The wood is poplar and we painted and stained all of it ourselves (contractor installed the panels, finish carpenters we are not). The floors and ceiling are lyptus, an FSC certified wood which we oiled with Bush Oil. The ceiling has 2 coats, the floors 3, and we're going to do a few more coats on the floors this fall.

We have PA bluestone steps waiting to be installed this week, then a few foundation plantings, a whole lotta grass seed, a couple of punch list things like door handles and other misc hardware and we're finito and on to finishing up the kitchen (oy).

Sandy, you and your DH have done a wonderful job! It looks so inviting! Love the exterior colors, but, my favorite is that gorgeous ceiling!

    It's just beautiful! I'm in envy! :)

Beautiful room and property! I'm in envy, too. I've always wanted a sunroom or screened porch. You've done such a good job of decorating it.

I love that fish light! not at all dorky!( unless that is the species of fish!) LOL I dream of a house like yours on a lake. I love houses that the doors open up onto a screened porch.
I have a wicker arm chair like yours, but no ottoman. I found mine in a consignment shop and we love it!
    great job!

Oh that's just beautiful! Your house is charming, and is that a view of the water in the back? The floor and ceiling are gorgeous! Lyptus, huh? So pretty. I love the overhead light too. You've done such a beautiful job with that space, I can see wanting to stay in there all summer long! Now, do those stay as screens in the winter? Might rain blow in sideways? Or do you put windows in and continue enjoying the (heated) space? This looks like a dream home. Can you post more pictures?

So glad you posted that. I love that porch.

Beautiful job--I love that barrel style ceiling area, enjoy your hard work! It looks so very inviting.

I always love the opportunity to see your house SandyPonder! That porch is a gem, for sure. Love the croquet floor lamp. Can you tell me anything about it? (I am wondering if it might be a better use for the croquet set I have moldering in the garage...)

Thank you all for the compliments, we are very happy with how it turned out. Here are a few pics of the exterior (almost finished). We absolutely love living here, the houses are close, but living on the water is worth it.

The croquet lamps were a TJ Maxx sale item, barely fit into the back of my car one cold February night, ahem, 3 years ago (I am a hoarder of bargain stuff that I might use "someday"). My camera is charging, but I will take a few close ups and post them for you, Amy.

Thanks again to all of you.

Fabulous! Would love to see more inside pictures.

    its beautiful!!

Thats some kinda snow belt! Looks like Igloos lake in winter! My jaw dropped when I saw the lakeside of your house. What a beautiful property! Hope your weather has been as wonderful as ours this last week!

Sigh-my blood pressure goes down looking at sandyponder's pics. Those red windows.

Your home is BEAUTIFUL. The porch is lovely, your view is amazing. I love the exterior paint colors. We are about to paint our home, and I was wondering if you would share your exterior colors and trim colors. I have so many sample colors painted on my front porch, it looks like my house is going camouflage. Thanks so much.

Beautiful job sandyponder, a very inviting and relaxing porch! Curious as to where you are located?

    Sandy,
Really beautiful. Does the porch vary in depth? It looks like it is less deep in the eating area. Would you mind telling me the inside depth in the eating area and the other area? Great job!

Stunning .. all of it! Just stunning!

    Dear Deco Forum Folks-

Thank you for all the comments, you are so kind and we appreciate your comments so much.

Let's see, bebetokids, LOL, the red windows, never have I agonized so much over a decision, usually I am far too decisive and don't think things through enough. I'm just glad the house doesn't scream "Merry freaking Christmas" every time you see it. For awhile it seemed like everyone on the BAH forum either loved or hated red windows. I don't venture over there much anymore, too much bickering for me.

danlan, the green is a Hardi standard color, Mountain Sage, but the closest BM equivalent is Tate Olive and trim is Hardi Sailcloth, not sure of the BM equivalent, but it's not BM's Sailcloth, that's not as yellow (ask me how I know). The windows are Eagle brand in Cinnamon Toast, which SW can mix for you (Eagle uses SW colors). We really like the combo and how good it looks in all seasons, here a pic in the winter.

sue36, the dining area is 12' and the LR area is 14' wide, the house takes a little jog out in the DR area for the stairs. The 12' is a little tight, but we wanted the outside of the porch to be same, so we compromised on the DR area.

ksoxgrl, we are located on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, about halfway between Syracuse and Watertown, right in the so called "lake effect" snow belt. Luckily we love snow (and drive Subarus).

oceanna, I will post more interior pics when we are finished, literally every room is torn up but the porch. Don't worry, I'll bore you all with loads of pix starting in a few weeks.

amysrq, here are the croquet pics, but keep your expectations low, it's a really cheap knock off, and worth every cent of the $12 each I paid.
