remodeling bathroom

We would like to know if it's possible to estimate a rough price of what we should expect to pay someone to gut and re-do an entire bathroom, from the walls and floor out. It's a 7x7 room. My husband wants to buy (ourselves) the vanity, countertop and sink, medicine chest, toilet and tub and fixtures, wall and floor tile.

That would leave to the contractor: the gutting, purchasing and replacing floor and wall materials, nails, screws and any hardware, installing tub, toilet etc, installing tile to the tub area and half walls, purchase and installation of fan, and paint.

Is this an impossible question? or is it estimatable?

Thanks

You haven't mentioned the pipe replacement. Supply drain, waste and possibly vent. Install on tile will vary based on the complexity of the install and the tile material.
Also electric. It will need to be updated to current code. Around here(LI,NY) that means running new lines to the bath so it doesn't share other rooms lines.
Don't forget the hidden rotted subfloor and joists around the tub, shower and toilet.
The price range can be from $9k-20K. Better to call in contractors and have ALL the choices made before they get there.
You don't mention the age of the house.

We just got a rough estimate to do a hallway full bath for 20k and master bath 30k. This is for all labor (permits, installation, lights, fans, electrical, moving the plumbing, enlarging the actual rooms, crown molding, tiling, etc.) and materials (tubs, ceramic tile in hall bath, natural stone tile in master, hardware, vanities, granite countertops, framelss glass shower in master). I think 50k for both baths is a lot, but the price is for everything...if I stay within the allowance (big IF). I like the idea of one point person for everything. One person responsible for all the work. He is a contractor that we have used before and has a good reputation. Hmmmm...maybe we will renovate the baths after all.

Hello again, thanks for the quick replies. Hopefully, this will not cost anywhere near motherof3's bathrooms! I"m sure they will be magnificent but we don't want to spend that kind of money.

Ron, yes pipes would be replaced as well, and rotting subfloor(how did you know) Electricity is not an issue in this house. It's up to code. The house was built in the 70s and has been updated not so long ago. So roughly the low end, with us supplying all the things I listed in my OP could be around 9000, all the way up to 20,000? that's a wide range. Ok estimates it is. Thanks!
