Kitchen Edits - thoughts

OK... so I've been playing in the kitchen and would like some input.

I moved some things around and I'd love if you all could offer your input:

I switched the fridge, added an "in-kitchen" pantry, made a bar area, increased the prep sink, and moved the kitchen sink. Thoughts? The reason I hesitate to move the range is because it is directly across the room from the fireplace. We wanted to do a neat hood area for the range that would sorta be the opposite line of sight for the fireplace. I still can move it if it really makes more sense somewhere else. Directly upstairs from the range is the outside walls of a bedroom so I think we can go straight up with a small L to vent directly outside.

Is the built in cupboard for dish storage? If so... I"d switch the frig and it. Is that L area on the left your pantry? Would someone have to walk through the pantry to get to the dining room?

Thanks for the response, remodelfla (I'm in SW Florida)!

The built in cupboard would be for food/snacks/common items. The L area is a butlers pantry. It is one entry to the dining room but there is another "normal" entry from the main hallway. You can't see it, but I also have a large walk-in pantry that's 9'x6' but its across the main hall which is why people here felt I'd need a smaller pantry for food storage in the kitchen.

I haven't figured out every day dish storage but I figure it'll be in uppers on either side of the sink and possibly some drawers within the island. There will also be dish storage in the butlers pantry.

My sister has a very similar layout to the one posted here, with remodelfa's change to the placement of the fridge, and it works well for them.

OK... I made a couple more changes... I added a bookshelf and garbage cans and I moved the prep sink.

On switching the fridge location, if I put the fridge on the other side, I'll need to shrink my island to accomidate the door swing. If I leave it where it is, I can keep my island bigger, which I'd prefer. That said, if it really works better back where it started, I'd shrink the island. Does anyone else think it's in a bad locale?
