Medicine cabinet problems

Hello,

I'm doing over a bathroom and am having a difficult time finding a medicine cabinet that will fit a standard depth wall. They all seem to be deeper than 4 inches. The one I am looking at is a Kohler Archer and is 5 inches deep . Does anyone know if that will work in a standard wall? Am I missing something here ?

many thanks,

Normal plumbing walls would be framed with 2x6's which would be why the medicine cabinets would be that depth.

Hi millworkman,
Thanks for the reply . My home , built in 1978, has walls of 2x4 , and that is why I am wondering about the medicine cabinets.

I suspect that one will fit, as well as all the other ones you see in the big box stores. The "standard depth" in their specs probably means the total depth, not the depth of the recess. If you look at one in person, the cabinet part is probably 4" deep.

I wish the old homes around me had 2x6 "normal" plumbing walls! I always get 2x4's in old homes. (Arlington, VA)
