Update on Sharon's hubby

Sharon posted this on FB today:

He's home!!!! Wearing a LifeVest that's more like the old Safety Patrol belts, or a hook in the front bra without cups and a bunch of pockets for all the devices......also called a wearable defibrillator and the monitor is worn around the waist like a fanny bag. Two batteries.....wear one and charge one. If he passes out, I'm not supposed to touch him or I'll get shocked. Like when they say "clear".....my job is to call 911. So very happy that he's home. Thank you, Lord.

I'm sure they will both rest better now.

It's wonderful that he is home with the family.. That will make his recovery so much better and faster I am sure. Bless you both. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Thanks to Beverly for keeping y'all updated on what was happening. Things are starting to slow down a bit now that he's home. Since he had a heart attack and didn't know it, they strongly encouraged him to wear this LifeVest that is really a wearable defibrillator that will automatically zap him if he passes out from a heart attack. He goes back to the cardio doc in a week or so and we go from there. He hate wearing the thing but has agreed to do it til we see the doc again. He has also agreed on taking the meds.......though he hates that, too. His heart is working at 20% now and apparently that's enough to keep him going. We're hanging in there and taking a day at a time.

Been traveling and no longer get email updates from garden web for some reason. Sharon. I'm sorry to hear of your husband's problems, but happy that things are looking better now.

I'm glad he's home and sounds like he will be a good patient this time. Nothing like a good scare to set us on the right path. Sounds like you still need prayer though. Will do and take care.

Never a dull moment with this guy! We had an incident yesterday. Doc said he could ride his motorcycle so he wanted to go 'around the block' which is at least 5 miles. He got zapped......he thought he got hit or something but he was still upright on his bike so he pulled over and then heard the siren on his monitor screaming and knew what happened. He didn't 'feel' anything like having had a heart attack (but then he didn't before either) so pulled the battery out of the device and came on home. That blue gel stuff was all over his back and front where it had dispensed prior to zapping. Called the company on what to do next and got walked through it. The rep came out this morning and he got new everything. Now, he is more receptive to having the implant (if it comes to that) as he learned it isn't as sensitive as this vest is and he'll be able to ride. We have until March til we see the doc again.......sigh.

I've been away from the forum for a while and just now catching up? My oh my you have had a time of it all...God bless you.
Sounds like events have your hubby on the right track to make the best decision for himself and those who surround him. Remember to care for yourself as well...I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Sharon, the vest malfunctioned? That must have been scary. I'm glad it's all fixed now and that he's okay. :)

Valarie, No hurry on getting the blocks mailed. Whenever is fine. :-)

Not sure if it was a malfunction. The thing is sensitive to vibration and since his bike isn't top-of-the-line but more of a cobbled bit of fun, it was probably the motorcycle that set it off or the road or trucks passing or.......who knows! No chain-sawing either.

Taking care of me......I didn't realize all the energy it takes just being concerned and trying to make things easier for him. It unnerves him to fill his pill box so I do that for him and wash his vest and help him put it on......he's always been very good at unhooking bras but putting them on is an adventure. LOL (TMI???) I've noticed my afternoon snoozes are turning into very long naps, so I guess at least I'm getting my rest. :-)

Today is another day and we're both gearing up for it. He's already been out and about and I'm still on my first cup of coffee, in my robe and thinking about the Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt and clue 4. Life is good.

Glad to hear all is well Sharon! I do think it's harder sometimes on the loved ones. We want to hover to make sure ALL is well ALL of the time. At least I do lol!

DH is also an earlier person than I am, and I will watch the late news while he is in bed - BUT - the middle of the day we're in sync lol.
