33-inch range hood?

Hello everyone,

Due to some very odd kitchen planning, I ended up with a 33" cabinet over my cooktop. I'm looking for a very basic under-cabinet range hood, white or stainless, ducted or recirculating. (The kitchen is on an exterior wall so direct venting is an option, but it's an induction cooktop so probably not necessary.)

Broan said they used to make a 33" model, but discontinued it years ago, and I haven't been able to find one from another major manufacturer. Does anybody know of a company that makes a basic 33" hood, or know of someone that could make a custom one that's not too expensive?

Thank you!

There is a company in the LA area called Modern Aire. They make custom range hoods. Several GWers have ordered from them in the past and are very happy with the quality.

Here is a link that might be useful: Modern Aire

Sorry, but I don't know of any 33" range hoods. Most start out with 30" (although there are some 24" as well) and then go up in 6" increments: 30", 36", 42", 48", ... The reason for this is that in the USA & Canada, most ranges/cooktops are 30", 36", or 48" and range hoods, ideally, are 6" wider than the range/cooktop. So I have a 42" range hood over my 36" "regular" electric cooktop (vented outside).

Yes, you can get a custom range hood, but I doubt it will be inexpensive.

You might be able to get a metal worker to make a 33" SS hood and use an insert designed for a 30" hood. I don't know how expensive that will be... Do you have a Kitchen Designer? If so, I suggest you ask him/her.

With regards to not needing to vent outside b/c you have induction...that's not true. External venting is always better unless you never use your cooktop. Venting is needed to vent smoke, steam, heat, grease, etc. from your kitchen and to the outside....and they're produced no matter what type of cooking you do (gas, "regular" electric, induction).

Hi - I know this thread was a long time ago, but I’m in the same boat and I can’t find any info. My designer’s solution is to add filler, but I can’t imagine that will work or look good. What did you end up doing? Thank you!!!

I also know that this thread was a long time ago, but I was also in the same boat, The only manufacturer of 33" under the cabinet range hoods that I could find was Broan, They had the Model 88000 Series that was Ductless and the Model 89000 Series Deluxe Ducted Range Hoods, They also had the NR Series, possibly in 33" but I couldn't find that for sure. Hope this Helps anyone looking for a 33" under the cabinet range hood. These were made to at least 2010, so there's a good chance there's still some out there. Good Luck
