Kitchen FINALLY Finished!!!

Thank you everyone for their help, advice and support through our remodel. I never thought it would end but it's FINALLY finished.

Here's a link to the before and after pictures. I have to warn everyone that there are a lot pictures because I tend to get camera happy!

Feel free to ask any questions! It's time for me to pay it forward.

P.S. I borrowed the blind cabinet Costco drawer idea from someone here (sorry I can't remember your name - but thank you) and added a folding shelf too! =)

Here is a link that might be useful: Kitchen Pictures

What a fantastic transformation! I especially love your art, the curved side-splash and all the well-planned storage. I can only imagine how thrilled you must be with your beautiful new space. Do you pinch yourself every time you walk in? Congratulations!

oh wow! lucky you! so much organization also! which corner cab do you like best? which would you give up if you could only have 1? it looks like your LS gives you a lot of storage - not just using it for cans/bottled items etc.
i've almost decided to just leave it a dead corner... i've only got 1 to figure out. i've copied out pics of yours for my 'corner cab idea' folder. hope you don't mind...

how many drawers do you have? i think i counted at least 11. i'm going to have 12-14 depending on if i put in a oven wall cab or just counter top w/cab beneath. will that be enough? I don't have many pots/pans - just 2 pots and 2 skillets plus 2 square/oblong pans - i'm not a big cooker anymore. I'm hoping to have 9 of the slim drawers for utensils etc (always seem to be so many of those type of things to put somewhere).

man i hope I live thru the mess and moving to get into mine to enjoy it...

Mmm! I love it all. Great looking cabinets and countertops, and everything looks so organized. I love the artwork above your sink and the pass through to the DR.

Love it! What is your countertop? It reminds me of mine at my old house, Cambria Windsor. I absolutely love everything you did! What a difference!

Thank you everyone for the responses and compliments! =)

Erika: Yes, I do pinch myself! When I was posting the pictures up yesterday my DH and I were still in shock on the difference!

Desertsteph: It's hard to say which corner cab I love best. I use each one differently and yes all of them give me a good amount of storage. I honestly don't think I would give any of them up because we designed them to store the things we have. I absolutely don't mind you copying the pictures - hope they help you!

We have 16 drawers (not counting the pantry ones). I don't know if 12-14 will be enough for your needs, only you can decide that, but I agree on the need for slim drawers. What I did was look at how I stored things in my original kitchen and tried to resolve some of the storage and organizational issues we had. I love my 3 sets of 4 stack drawers (3 small on top and one larger one on the bottom). I'm able to separate and organize a lot better and no longer have to dig in drawers for things. I have a 3 stack drawers (1 small on top and 2 larger ones on the bottom) for my utensils and pots/pans. Finally, we have one drawer on top of the trash pull out - this is our menu/junk drawer. We had to plan for this drawer because who doesn't have a junk drawer in the kitchen, right?

You will live thru the mess - some days it won't feel like it but keep focused on the finish line. If you hit any bumps and need to vent - this forum is great for that. It definitely help me tremendously in getting through it!

Scootermom: I also love the artwork, I think it brings a splash of extra color into the kitchen. The enlarged pass thru to the DR was one of the best last minute decisions we made on the kitchen and worth the extra money we spent.

Annettacm: Our countertop is Platinum Azul granite.

Love your cabinets. What brand/finish are they? You guys did a great job.

Beautiful transformation!! It's really obvious that you put a lot of thought into every feature to end up with a super functional and beautiful kitchen. Well done!

P.S. I loved seeing those blind corner drawers. That's a very clever solution to an always vexing problem.

Your cabinets are beautiful! From the pics, it looks like staining was done on-the-job rather than at a factory. If so, what stain and color did you use?

It was fun watching your slideshow. Great job! Don't you just love your Samsung refrigerator? It looks great how you boxed it in. It's obvious that a lot of planning went into this kitchen, and it has all payed off! It looks warm, wonderful, beautiful! Enjoy!

Absolutely love the cabinets. The finish is just gorgeous. You guys did a great job. So happy for you.

Just gorgeous! So much warmer than all that white. An example that white doesn't always make a room seem larger. the cabinets are beautiful.

    Thanks everyone!!!

southernstitcher: No brand because it was made by a local cabinet maker. They maple doors with 3/4 inch plywood box and shelves.

jenswrens: The cabinets were made and stained by a local cabinet maker at their shop. I don't know what kind of stain they used and there is no name to the stain because they custom made the color for me. I feel in love with the color at IKEA, bought a piece of the drawer front and they color matched it for me.

morton5: Yes, I love my Samsung frig! Do you have one? If so, does yours make some noise when it's making ice or is it just mine?

LOVE IT! Your 'before' pictures remind me of my kitchen (minus the pass-through). Mine is now in the "kitchen gone" state. I moved a short wall and re-oriented the door to my basement to gain 3 feet of counter space :) I'm going to make a slide show like yours to share..

Good luck with your new one.

nicely done. everyone else has already nailed all the compliments!! I love all your artwork - you've made it the center of your home already!! Enjoy!

GORGEOUS! What fabulous choices . . . I kept looking at the pictures, thinking that the color LOOKED liked Adel MB, but those were definately not Ikea boxes -- your carpenter did a lovely job -- great grain on that Maple! I like how you eliminated the "step up" in the pass-thru, making it one height really gives depth and unity to the rooms (great looking family there, as well!) Thanks for the details on storage -- I like the high boxes in the pantry, the corner cabinets -- I have you bookmarked as well! Thanks also for the Xenon photo with the lights off: gives an idea on task lighting without ceiling can lights. Love your lights as well, yes, it does look like a suspension bridge. CONGRATS!

Very nicely done. I'm with Erika - love the curved backsplash and art above the pass through. Your kitchen is classic with a few curves (sorry, bad pun) and a dose of personality thrown in.

Great kitchen! I loved all the pictures - it's so cool to see all the spaces transform.
