Chris, I haven't had any specific problems with mine, but I can say I won't buy another. For one thing, I think they are hugely overpriced. I bought a very small one with a coupon at JoAnn's, and it's design leaves a lot to be desired! It's very topheavy and falls over all the time. It seems like the bulb is starting to get dim (it's a couple of years old but hasn't had much use), and I looked at replacement bulbs at JoAnn's and was shocked at how much they were - almost as much as the original lamp.

The main thing about the Ott lite as I understand it is that they are full-spectrum, essentially mimicking natural light. Well, you can now buy full-spectrum bulbs to go in any lamp, so I just do that. Much, much cheaper than an Ott and easily to replace a bulb when you need a new one.

my ott light bulb didn't last very long either

I have two...a plain ugly one in my sewing room and a pretty one by my chair in the den! For me, they mean the difference between reading and not reading (den), and sewing and not sewing!! I tried the daylight spectrum regular bulbs before we lay out the money for the Ott lamps, and although they helped, they were not good enough!
I have had one of mine for 5 years and the other for 4 and have had no trouble at all. The ugly one came with an extra bulb, so I am ready if that one goes out, and like Miss Flamingo, I will use my coupons to replace the other one when the time comes.

I found an Ott lite at the Goodwill store so it would hard to be disappointed for 2.00 The bulb is still working but I bought a spare (not Ott-lite) at one of our major markets (Meijers) The base needs to be the same.

I've had 3 for years (5+)They are still bright and make my seeing anything so much better. I've not tried the new spectrum bulbs, but will do so when mine wear out.

My first Ott bulb was one used by someone else and I used it for 4-5 years before it went. Back in those days it cost 25 dollars. I bought another and it was good for about 10 or so years used regularly. Since then the prices have gone up so much that I have moved to the compact florescents -daylight in almost all my lamps and fixtures. You just cant put a clamp shade on them which leaves me with one lamp with a candescent bulb.
I figure the ott people changed who was making their bulbs or the company has changed hands. This sort of thing happens with a lot of products and they are never the same.

I emailed ott lite for a burned out circuit board and didn't get an answer. at first I thought it was the bulbs so I bought another set still didn't work than I checked the board and the fuse was blown so I asked the company to send a new board and I would pay for it. No Answer this unit cost over $250 I,m not very happy I'm going to buy a full spectrum light

Bought both of mine used. Both are still working great!

I have a an ott light floor lamp for about 5 years. It has been unusable for 3 years. What happened with mine is the plastic hoses that hold the wires have cracked and are broke so that you can't position the clip, magnifying glass or the lamp. the lamp itself still works. Unfortunately I do not have the receipt. Is there any way to fix it?
